A cyanide and hydroxo-bridged nanocage: a new generation of coordination clusters.
2013
International audience; Combining serendipitously-formed hydroxo-clusters, [CoII3(OH)(piv)4(L)]+ (where L = MeCN or Hpiv), with assembling cyanide building block, [FeIII(Tp)(CN)3]−, has led to an unprecedented architecture where polymetallic cobalt clusters and blocked tris-cyanide iron complexes define the apexes of a unique magnetic cubic nanocage.
Hydrogen-Bonded Open-Framework with Pyridyl-Decorated Channels: Straightforward Preparation and Insight into Its Affinity for Acidic Molecules in Sol…
2017
International audience; An hydrogen-bonded open framework with pores decorated by pyridyl groups has been constructed following an off-charge-stoichiometry assemblage of protonated tetrakis(4-pyridyl-oxymethyl)methane and [Al(oxalate)3]3-, respectively the H-bond donor and acceptor of the ionic H-bond interactions. This supramolecular porous architecture (SPA-2) possesses 1 nm-large pores interconnected in 3D with high solvent accessible void (53%). It demonstrated remarkable affinity for acidic organic molecules in solution, which was investigated by the means of various carboxylic acids including larger drug molecules. Noteworthy, competing sorption between acetic acid and its halogenated…
Protonation of a Spherical Macrotricyclic Tetramine: Water Inclusion, Allosteric Effect, and Cooperativity
2017
The spherical macrotricyclic cryptand tetramine "C24" (1) displays remarkable protonation behaviour. It undergoes protonation in four successive steps for which pKa values of 11.17±0.05, 10.28±0.04, 6.00±0.06 and 3.08±0.08 have been determined at 298 K. The unusually close values for the first two protonations provide evidence for the encapsulation of a water molecule serving as effector for the second protonation, which is consistent with earlier observations that the exchange of protons bound in the diprotonated species with solvent protons is unusually slow and that 17 O NMR spectra show the presence of an oxygen centre in the same species quite distinct from that of solvent water. Encap…
Herbicidal value of essential oils from oregano-like flavour species
2017
ABSTRACTChemical composition and phytotoxicity of oregano, marjoram and Thymus mastichina essential oils against Portulaca oleracea L., Lolium multiflorum Lam. and Echinochloa crus-galli (L.) Beauv. has been investigated. Seventy-seven compounds reaching 97.3% and 99.4% were identified by gas chromatography–mass spectrometry. Carvacrol (60.42 ± 0.07%), p-cymene (15.52 ± 0.02%) and γ-terpinene (5.19 ± 0.02%) were the main compounds in oregano essential oil, whereas large amounts of 1,8-cineol (59.59 ± 0.85%, 49.49 ± 0.37%), linalool (13.05 ± 0.04%, 5.66 ± 0.01%) and α-terpineol (3.36 ± 0.10%, 5.59 ± 0.01%), followed by β-pinene (4.35 ± 0.39, 5.54 ± 0.01%) and α-pinene (4.11 ± 0.53, 4.28 ± 0.…
Triorganotin( iv ) cation-promoted dimethyl carbonate synthesis from CO 2 and methanol: solution and solid-state characterization of an unexpected di…
2018
Two novel C,N-chelated organotin(IV) complexes bearing weakly coordinating carborane moieties were prepared by the reaction of the corresponding C,N-chelated organotin(IV) chloride (i.e. LCNR2SnCl, R = n-Bu (1) and Ph (2); LCN = 2-(N,N-dimethylaminomethyl)phenyl)) with monocarba-closo-dodecaborate silver salt (AgCB11H12; Ag·3). Both products of the metathesis, [LCN(n-Bu)2Sn]+[CB11H12]− (4) and [LCNPh2Sn]+ [CB11H12]− (5), respectively, were characterized by both multinuclear NMR spectroscopy and elemental analysis. The instability of 4 and 5 towards water is discussed. The solid-state structure of LCN(n-Bu)2SnOH·B(C6F5)3 (4a) as a model compound with a Sn–O(H)⋯B linkage is also reported. The…
Subphthalocyanine basicity: reversible protonation at the azomethine bridge
2017
International audience; Subphthalocyanine (SubPc) could be reversibly protonated at the azomethine bridge. This phenomenon was examined by addressing the pKa of the acid (TFA, MSA, TMSA) and the SubPc electron-withdrawing properties of the peripheral isoindolic substituents (F12 vs. H12 and NO2), which tunes the basic character of the azomethine moiety. The protonation of up to three azomethines was suggested and monitored spectrophotometrically with the appearance of new absorption bands at 610, 630 nm and 660 nm, together with marked colour changes from purple to blue to green. Evidence of such a protonation was also shown by significant changes in the 1H-NMR spectrum and new bands in the…
Acylchalcogenourea Complexes of Silver(I)
2016
Acylthio- or acylselenoureas react with silver(I) oxide to form tetranuclear silver(I) complexes containing the deprotonated acylchalcogenourea ligands bound to the silver atoms through the chalcogen and oxygen atoms. These tetrasilver(I) species react with either 4 or 8 equiv. of a phosphine to afford either dinuclear silver(I) phosphine complexes or tetrahedral silver diphosphine complexes. In these compounds, the acylchalcogenourea ligands form six-membered rings by coordinating to the metal atom through the chalcogen and oxygen atoms. In one case, we observed a very rare example of an acylthiourea ligand coordinated through the nitrogen and sulfur atoms to form a four-membered ring. A s…

2018

The crystal structure of 1 that has been solved by s…
Modulation of the ordering temperature in anilato-based magnets
2019
Abstract Four new 2D honeycomb anilato-based ferrimagnets with Mn(II) and Cr(III) have been prepared and characterized. These compounds, formulated as (NBu4)[MnCr(C6O4X2)3(PhCHO)]·PhY (X/Y = Cl/H (1), Br/H (2), Cl/CHO (3) and Br/CHO (4) show that it is possible to include benzaldehyde as a co-ligand coordinated to the Mn(II) metal atom in these 2D ferrimagnets. This inclusion increases the coordination number of Mn(II) to seven resulting in a change in the ordering temperatures of these 2D ferrimagnets (from ca. 10–11 K to ca. 7 K). Here we show the role played by the additional benzaldehyde ligand and by the crystallization solvent molecules (benzene in 1 and 2 and benzaldehyde in 3 and 4)…
Ligand Noninnocence in Cobalt Dipyrrin–Bisphenols: Spectroscopic, Electrochemical, and Theoretical Insights Indicating an Emerging Analogy with Corro…
2019
Three cobalt dipyrrin-bisphenol (DPPCo) complexes with different meso-aryl groups (pentafluorophenyl, phenyl, and mesityl) were synthesized and characterized based on their electrochemistry and spectroscopic properties in nonaqueous media. Each DPPCo undergoes multiple oxidations and reductions with the potentials, reversibility, and number of processes depending on the specific solution conditions, the specific macrocyclic substituents, and the type and number of axially coordinated ligands on the central cobalt ion. Theoretical calculations of the compounds with different coordination numbers are given in the current study in order to elucidate the cobalt-ion oxidation state and the innoc…
