Culture as an influence on sexting attitudes and behaviors: A differential analysis comparing adolescents from Spain and Colombia
2020
Abstract This study analyses the prevalence of sexting and the reasons and attitudes associated with its practice in adolescents with different cultural backgrounds (Colombia and Spain). The sample is made up of 489 Spaniards and 510 Colombians aged between 13 and 18 years. The results show that sexting is strongly influenced by gender and the country, in favor of men and Colombians respectively. The interaction between gender and country establishes that in Spain women and men practice sexting equally, while in Colombia men practice much more sexting than women. Although the practice of sexting increases progressively with age, the levels are higher among Colombian adolescents, especially …
Multiple forms of stakeholder interaction in environmental management: business arguments regarding differences in stakeholder relationships
2010
This study describes and interprets differences in stakeholder interaction as rhetorically constructed in environmental reports and in interviews with environmental managers. It also interprets the role of the natural environment among stakeholders, and discusses how that role is justified or not justified. The study focuses in a business perspective on stakeholder interaction in environmental management. Characteristically, stakeholder studies of environmental management have concentrated on stakeholder influence or the creation of stakeholder management models. In contrast to those, the present study identifies different types of stakeholder relationships: power-based, collaborative, conf…
Self-employment duration in urban and rural locations
2009
Previous research has shown that local environment is important for self-employment. Self-employment dynamics varies between areas characterized by different labour market conditions, entrepreneurial tradition and other structural factors. Alternation between different labour market states (self-employment, paid-employment, non-employment) is also likely to increase if employment opportunities remain low in local labour market markets. This paper analyses the factors influencing the duration of self-employment spells in Finland with a large registered-based data set from the period of 1987-2002. It is evident that rates of exit out of self-employment and the length of self-employment spells…

Condotta di singoli organi e condotta dell’apparato statale in tema di colpa nell’illecito internazionale
1988
The idea is advanced that state fault - understood as an essential precondition f…
"I felt like a lonely person in the desert" : a case study on factors moderating interunit communication in multinational headquarters-subsidiary rel…
2017
One of the biggest challenges for internationalizing businesses is to develop and maintain efficient internal communication processes across national and cultural borders. This thesis aims to examine what are the most important organizational structures and communicational practices for a successful multinational headquarters-subsidiary relationship, and what do the communicational practices, such as the mechanics of language use and interunit knowledge-transfer, imply about the efficiency of global co-operation. This study considers the experiences of one case company’s Finnish headquarters and Dutch subsidiary on internal communication in a crucial phase of internationalization. The data …

Nostalgia, community and resistance : Counter-cultural politics in a Finnish skinzine
2019
Culture and community building are an essential part of the appeal of the far-right and fascist movements. Studying their cultural products is therefore important for a deeper understanding of the movement and their modus operandi. One elemental part of their culture are the so-called zines, small-scale do-it-yourself magazines intended for scene members. In certain respects, the far-right zines, skinzines, follow the forms and trends of other underground publications, especially punk-zines, with which they also share the resistance identity as stigmatized and marginalized actors. However, the political visions in skinzines are more or less opposite to ‘democratic zines’, creating certain t…
Social engagement from childhood to middle age and the effect of childhood socio-economic status on middle age social engagement: results from the Na…
2016
ABSTRACTSocial engagement has powerful effects on wellbeing, but variation in individual engagement throughout the lifecourse is wide. The trajectories may differ by gender and be affected by socio-economic status (SES). However, long-term development of social engagement is little studied and the effect of childhood SES on later-life social engagement remains obscure. We aimed to describe the social engagement development from childhood to middle age by gender and test the effect of childhood SES on middle age social engagement. Data (N=16,440, 51.3% male) are drawn from the on-going National Child Development Study, following British babies born in 1958. Social engagement was measured by …
