Current research in the field of entrepreneurship emphasizes the importance of opportunity recognition as a key element in the entrepreneurial process. It has been recognized that network ties, activeness and alertness, and prior knowledge are related to how entrepreneurs recognize new opportunities. However, it is unclear how important these factors are when a firm explores opportunities for entry into a foreign market. It has been seen as a medium of teaching; as a means of archiving knowledge in different text depositories like books and libraries; and as an object of theoretical study (Brumfit 2004, 164). Obecność struktur klastrowych w gospodarce świadczy bowiem o poziomie jej rozwoju, a także wskazuje na jej potencjał oraz dalsze perspektywy rozwojowe. Ze względu na różnorodność struktur klastrowych nie ma dla wszystkich jednolitego zestawu instrumentów wspierających ich rozwój. Konieczne jest stosowanie różnych, odpowiednio dostosowanych do danego typu klastra instrumentów. Business Models and Internationalization of Software Firms: A Comparative Case Study

This paper investigates the impact of software firms’ business models to internationalization behavior by using a comparative case study. The selection of the firms for this study was based on their level of internationalization. The case firm Alpha had foreign operations only in the Nordic countries whereas the case firm Beta sold their product to many distant markets. The findings, related to the general business model framework that was used, indicate that there were very few differences between the firms’ business models. This paper compares two manufacturer strategies focused on their retailers: (i) product strategy and (ii) service process strategy (before, during, and after selling). Additionally, the role of time in the manufacturer–retailer relationship is measured, testing the relevance of both strategies: before and after a loyalty programme.
