Rural settlement in the territorium of Ilici: the Roman farm of The Cabezo-Clot de Galvany (Elx, Alicante)

2015

Monumental trees and their existence value: the case study of an Italian natural park

2015

The paper deals with the evaluation of the existence value of monumental trees in a protected area. Financial resources to be destined for protection interventions have been decreasing more and more, with a high risk of losing this natural heritage. A Contingent Valuation Method (CVM) survey was carried out among the Madonie Park (Sicily, Italy) resident households to evaluate the existence value of monumental trees of the nature trail named "Piano Sempria-Piano Pomo", represented by a population of "Giant hollies" and by 7 other individual trees. These are the main results of the CVM survey: the overall response rate was 40%, individual average WTPs ( Willingness To Pay ) were €12.37 for t…

Domestic tourists’ experience in protected natural parks: A new trend in pandemic crisis?

2021

International audience; Since December 2019, the Covid-19 pandemic crisis has led to profound changes around the world with a lot of interdictions or constraints to travel outside one's own country. One of the major consequences has been the development of proximity tourism in outdoor spaces less conducive to the spread of the virus. From a study preceding this pandemic, this article seeks to better understand the experiences lived by domestic tourists when they visited protected natural parks in their country. Beyond the health risks, it analyses the dimensions and the influences of experiences lived in these parks by French domestic tourists (n = 500) using Pine and Gilmore's 4Es model (1…

GOVERNANCE AND SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT IN THE NEBRODI’S NATURAL PARK

2007

The paper aims to analyse the environment of the Nebrodi’s Natural Park (Sicily) and the economic effects on the territory and on its inhabitants. In a recent vision, the economic development doesn't depend only from the availability of economic resource but it also depends from the so-called “extra-economic”resources, such as the social and cultural context, the political and social integrational degree, the know-how, the entrepreneurial offer and the services to enterprises. Today natural parks represent a “big box” in which nature, landscape, culture and traditions are, at the same time, “preserved” and “invested” for an economic growth. Moreover, the institution of the natural park - wh…

Palaeontological Heritage: protected vs. unprotected areas. The case of Clot de Galvany Municipal Natural Park and Elche reservoir surroundings

2019

Concerning palaeontological and geological heritage of a particular place, being or not being under legal protection influences its preservation. As two examples, cases of Clot de Galvany Municipal Natural Park and Elche reservoir surroundings are exposed. Developed by the Palaeontologic Museum of Elche, Project FOPALI assessment methodology has been applied.

Aspilota-group (Hymenoptera: Braconidae: Alysiinae) diversity in Mediterranean Natural Parks of Spain

2014

This work analyses the biodiversity of the Aspilota-group (Hymenoptera: Braconidae: Alysiinae) in three Mediterranean Natural parks: Natural Park of La Font Roja, Natural Park of Las Lagunas de la Mata-Torrevieja and Natural Park of La Tinença de Benifassà. Samples were carried out from April 2004 to December 2007. In total, 822 specimens, belonging to 52 species, were collected. Alpha, beta and gamma diversities were analysed, and the Tinença Park was proven to have higher diversity than the Font Roja and Torrevieja. Also, the structure of the Aspilota-group community was analysed.

The helminth community of the Mediterranean mouse, Mus spretus, in a post-fire regenerated Mediterranean ecosystem

2007

Abstract The helminth community of the Mediterranean mouse, Mus spretus, was analysed in a post-fire regenerated Mediterranean ecosystem. The study was carried out in the Spanish Natural Park of the Serra Calderona and comprised a 13 year period, from the 2nd to the 14th year after a wildfire. A total of 121 host individuals was analysed, 66 mice from the burned area and 55 from the non-burned area used as control. The results show a helminth community consisting of 10 helminth species, characterised by low diversity, with Syphacia obvelata as the only dominant helminth species. The helminth infracommunity, determined by its origin of capture, burned or non-burned areas, shows some signific…

Dataset of pharmaceuticals and personal care products in a Mediterranean coastal wetland

2021

The dataset provides information on Pharmaceutical and Personal Care Products (PPCPs) detected in the Albufera Natural Park (Valencia, Spain), a typical Mediterranean coastal wetland. These PPCPs constitute an important group of organic pollutants highly representative of the human impact. The concentrations values measured in soil, sediment and water and the statistical relationship of contaminants between them and with the environmental parameters could help to understand their fate in different compartments. The data also reported the occurrence and removal efficiency (%) for each contaminant in ten wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs), located in the surrounding area. This dataset could …
