Do Unnecessary Tasks Impair Performance Because They Harm Living a Calling? : Testing a Mediation in a Three-Wave Study

This three-wave study explored whether living a calling (at work) mediated the relation between unnecessary tasks (time wasting work tasks) and socio-contextual performance at work (cynicism, organizational citizenship behavior). Participants were 518 Finnish white- and blue-collar employees, who were followed up in 2018, 2019, and 2020. The results of structural equation modeling showed that unnecessary tasks at Time 1 related negatively to living a calling at Time 2, which, in turn, related to cynicism and organizational citizenship behavior at T3. Motivational configurations of cultural intelligence, social integration, and performance in global virtual teams

Abstract Global virtual teams (GVTs), electronically connected workgroups of geographically dispersed team members in multinational settings, may suffer from less social integration. However, they may also benefit from an increased ability to process information due to a richer portfolio of ideas and problem-solving approaches that the team’s diversity provides. Predicting the Significance of Necessity

With Necessary Condition Analysis (NCA), a necessity effect is estimated by calculating the amount of empty space in the upper-left corner in a plot with a predictor X and an outcome Y, and recently a method for testing the statistical significance of the necessity effect through permutation has been proposed. In the present simulation study, this method was found to give significant results already with a very weak true population necessity effect, i.e., exhibit high power, unless the sample size is very small. Settore ICAR/14 - Composizione Architettonica E UrbanaThe essay questions the future's possibilities to operate on the buildings of the second half of the twentieth century according to the Italian Code of Cultural Heritage (2004-2011). When arguing how to encourage the re-use of these artifacts which are often marked by short-life technology cycles obsolescence and abandonment the ambiguities and inconsistencies of current legislative procedures deeply stress the cultural role of research experiences that use project-oriented methodologies. The comparison between some Italian and other European cases highlights the role of a design approach in the construction of a transformative protection perspective for the built matter of the second half of the twentieth century. In a framework aiming to encourage a reconciliation between the recent built environment and the new paradigms of sustainability and circular economy architecture must recognize re-cycle practices as a main theoretical and procedural node. To modernize the late Modern built environment with contemporary construction components is not simply a matter of technical knowledge and expertise: but a theme with theoretical density aesthetic and ethical values. The architectural project in this field today must ask for greater congruence between the bureaucratic and administrative levels and the real consistency of this corpus. It is a matter of identifying strategies to equip it with capabilities meanings and contents remembering that demolition wastes have unsustainable environmental costs and uncertain results concerning the necessary new attribution of political and semantic meaning that these places await.

Summary ― The work presents the results of the bio-archaeological analyzes carried out on human skeletal remains found in fourteen burials of Medieval chronology at the Archaeological Park of Valle dei Templi in Agrigentum (Sicily). The aim of the work was the acquisition of the information necessary for the reconstruction of the biological profile of each individual throught the determination of sex the estimate of the biological age at death the estimate of height and the evaluation of pathologies and markers of occupational stress through current anthropological diagnostic methodologies and techniques. Althought the poor state of conservation of some individuals has not allowed their whole anthropological characterization the investigations have highlighted the heterogeneity relating to the age groups and have allowed us to ascertain the presence of pathological alterations in subjects of mature age sometimes of unknown etiology such as DISH (Diffuse Idiopathic Hyperostosis). The panorama of the contemporary Italian reception of the Spanish poets of the 19th century through translations is not particularly satisfactory since it is necessary to wait for the following century to find the first monographic studies and editions of texts in translation although in anthological form. However as in the rest of Europe the corpus of periodicals of magazines offers a very profitable editorial channel for receiving foreign literary texts. This work focuses on the presence of Rosalía de Castro's work in the contemporary Italian press. At the same time attempts have been made to complete the study of the reception of the Galician poet in Italy collecting traces in other editorial products such as the book. The consequent analytical focus will correspond to the transnational study of some proto and meta texts individualized by their special interest.
