An Outline on Physical Training Quality Features Related to Coaching Roles in Peak Performance Activities

2014

Abstract The growth of sports accompanied by the increasing number of quality competitions have become a matter of interest for those involved with the study of methodological and theoretical approaches with application in sports and performance activities. No organization or activity, regardless of their profile, can achieve a high level of efficiency on their own, disregarding basic management element, rules, principles, laws, techniques and methods. Due to social needs they meet and their purpose, the activities in sports organizations, among which training stands top priority, claim a leader. A coach must be both manager and leader, be an inspiration for his team and a supervisor as wel…

The Routines-Based Model Internationally Implemented

2020

Professionals from 10 countries are implementing practices from the Routines-Based Model, which has three main components: needs assessment and intervention planning, a consultative approach, and a method for running classrooms. Its hallmark practices are the Routines-Based Interview, support-based visits with families, and a focus on child engagement. Implementers were interested in actual practices for putting philosophy and theory into action in their systems and cultures. We describe implementation challenges and successes and conclude that (a) models have to be adaptable, (b) some principles and practices are indeed universal, (c) we can shape excellent practices for international use,…

Development of basic psychological need satisfaction in physical education - Effects of a two-year PE programme

2019

Research shows that sports-active students experience more basic need satisfaction (autonomy, competence, relatedness) in physical education (PE) than their non-sports-active peers, and thus, reap most of the benefits of PE. This study aimed to investigate the role of a two-year PE programme, referred to as Interest-based PE, in contributing to students’ basic need satisfaction in PE, and in particular, to assess potential basic needs-benefits among students who were not involved in leisure-time sport. Among 693 students, 348 were offered a choice of two different PE approaches (“explorative” vs. “sports” approach) for the next two years, while the remaining students continued to receive tr…

Teachers' Attitudes toward Educational Inclusion in Spain: A Systematic Review.

2021

Inclusive education is currently one of the main aspirations of the Spanish educational system and one of the key aspects for its achievement is teachers’ attitudes toward educational inclusion. In recent years, many studies worldwide have analyzed this aspect, but so far, any systematic review has specifically focused on the Spanish educational framework. For this reason, the purpose of this paper is to review the studies published from 2010 to 2019 whose aim was to analyze teachers’ attitudes towards educational inclusion in Spain. After a literature search in four different databases (PsycInfo, ERIC, Dialnet Plus, and Google Scholar), 34 studies were selected and reviewed. The results su…

New organisation for follow-up and assessment of treatment efficacy in sleep apnoea.

2019

Obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA) is a highly prevalent disease, and there is an increased demand for OSA diagnosis and treatment. However, resources are limited compared with the growing needs for OSA diagnosis and management, and alternative strategies need to be developed to optimise the OSA clinical pathway. In this review, we propose a management strategy for OSA, and in general for sleep-disordered breathing, to be implemented from diagnosis to follow-up. For this purpose, the best current options seem to be: 1) networking at different levels of care, from primary physicians to specialised sleep laboratories; and 2) use of telemedicine. Telemedicine can contribute to the improved cost-ef…

Social Perceptions and Attitudes Towards Climate Change in Poland and in Turkey

2017

Climate change is perceived as a threat to future human well-being and a challenge to sustainable development of local communities and economies world-wide. Ever more frequent natural disasters come as warning symptoms of the changes. However, for the sake of effective and efficient adaptation in various world regions answers to the following questions are important: do people notice this changes, do they experience their negative effects, are they satisfied with the climate change mitigation and adaptation actions taken by the governments, are they willi…
