Description of the Retention and Peak Profile for Chromolith Columns in Isocratic and Gradient Elution Using Mobile Phase Composition and Flow Rate a…

2014

The effect of the modifier concentration and flow rate on the chromatographic performance of a second generation Chromolith® RP-18e column, under isocratic and gradient elution with acetonitrile-water mixtures, was examined using four sulphonamides as probe compounds. The acetonitrile concentration was varied between 5 and 55% (v/v), and the flow rate between 0.1 and 5.0 mL/min, keeping the other factors constant. The changes in both retention and peak profile were modelled, and used to build simple plots, where the logarithm of the retention factor was represented against the modifier concentration (in gradient elution, against the initial modifier concentration), and the half-widths or wi…

Influencing the Self‐Sorting Behavior of [2.2]Paracyclophane‐Based Ligands by Introducing Isostructural Binding Motifs

2020

Abstract Two isostructural ligands with either nitrile (Lnit) or isonitrile (Liso) moieties directly connected to a [2.2]paracyclophane backbone with pseudo‐meta substitution pattern have been synthesized. The ligand itself (Lnit) or its precursors (Liso) were resolved by HPLC on a chiral stationary phase and the absolute configuration of the isolated enantiomers was assigned by XRD analysis and/or by comparison of quantum‐chemical simulated and experimental electronic circular dichroism (ECD) spectra. Surprisingly, the resulting metallosupramolecular aggregates formed in solution upon coordination of [(dppp)Pd(OTf)2] differ in their composition: whereas Lnit forms dinuclear complexes, Liso…

Microemulsion encapsulated into halloysite nanotubes and their applications for cleaning of a marble surface

2018

Halloysite nanotubes were used to incorporate anionic surfactant micelles and an organic solvent to generate a cleaning system to be applied in Cultural Heritage restoration. The targeted adsorption is driven by electrostatic interactions based on the nanotubes peculiar charge separation. Namely anionic species are driven to the positively charged inner surface while being prevented from interacting with the halloysite outer surface that possesses a positive charge density. The hybrid organic/inorganic emulsion was characterized by dynamic light scattering. Analysis of the autocorrelation function allowed us to define the presence of surfactant aggregates inside/outside the nanotube lumen a…

Zinc isotope variations in archeological human teeth (Lapa do Santo, Brazil) reveal dietary transitions in childhood and no contamination from gloves

2020

International audience; Zinc (Zn) isotope ratios of dental enamel are a promising tracer for dietary reconstruction in archeology, but its use is still in its infancy. A recent study demonstrated a high risk of Zn contamination from nitrile, and latex gloves used during chemical sample preparation. Here we assess the potential impact of the use of such gloves during enamel sampling on the Zn isotope composition of teeth from a population of early Holocene hunter gatherers from Lapa do Santo, Lagoa Santa, Minas Gerais, Brazil. We first examined the amount of Zn and its isotopic composition released from the gloves used in this study by soaking them in weak nitric acid and water. We compared …

A DFT study of the role of the Mg complex formation on the mechanism of the 1,3-dipolar cycloadditions of benzonitrile oxides with acryloylpyrazolidi…

2010

Abstract The role of the Mg complex formation on the mechanism, the reaction rate and regioselectivity of the 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition (13DC) reactions of benzonitrile oxides (BNOs) towards electron-deficient acryloylpyrazolidinones has been theoretically studied using DFT methods at the 6-31G* level. These 13DC reactions have asynchronous concerted mechanism with a non-polar character. These cycloadditions present a slight 5-regioselectivity induced by a steric repulsion between the phenyl substituent of the BNOs and the pyrazolidinone appendage present on the acryloyl derivative, which increases with the formation of the bulky Mg–acryloylpyrazolidinone complex. The present DFT study poin…

Memory effects in functionalized conducting polymer films: titanocene derivatized polypyrrole in contact with THF solutions

2003

Abstract Films with a polypyrrole matrix and pendant titanocene dichloride centers, p(Tc3Py), have been obtained by potentiostatic electropolymerization of the titanocene-pyrrolyl derivative, Tc3Py=Tc(CH 2 ) 3 NC 4 H 4 (Tc=Cl 2 TiCpCp′, Cp=C 5 H 5 , Cp′=C 5 H 4 ), in acetonitrile (AN) solutions on a Pt surface. The redox activity has been studied after the transfer of the film-coated electrode into the monomer-free solution of the same electrolyte, TBAPF 6 , in THF. Contrary to the case of AN or dichloromethane solutions, one can achieve a stable redox activity of the immobilized Tc centers in THF solutions during a series of cycles. A parallel between the redox properties of the Tc complex…

New planar polynitrile dianion and its first coordination polymer with unexpected short M⋯M contacts (tcno2−=[(NC)2CC(O)C(CN)2]2−)

2008

International audience; A new planar polynitrile dianion ([tcno]2− = [(NC)2CC(O)C(CN)2]2−) has been synthesized as its potassium salt, K2[tcno] (1). The crystallization of 1 by the slow evaporation of an aqueous solution at room temperature gave two types of colourless crystals having two different shapes [1-A: fine plates and 1-B: needles] for which the crystal structure determinations showed similar geometries for the polynitrile anion in both the structures. The combination of this novel dianion with Cu(II) led to the coordination complex [Cu(tcno)2(H2O)2] (2), which constitutes the first coordination complex of this dianion. The structure of 2 can be described as a coordination polymer …

A novel series of rhenium-bipyrimidine complexes: synthesis, crystal structure and electrochemical properties

2007

Four novel rhenium complexes of formula [ReCl(4)(bpym)] (1), [ReBr(4)(bpym)] (2) PPh(4)[ReCl(4)(bpym)] (3) and NBu(4)[ReBr(4)(bpym)] (4) (bpym = 2,2'-bipyrimidine, PPh(4) = tetraphenylphosphonium cation and NBu(4) = tetrabutylammonium cation), have been synthesized and their crystal structures determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The structures of 1 and 2 consist of [ReX(4)(bpym)] molecules held together by van der Waals forces. In both complexes the Re(iv) central atom is surrounded by four halide anions and two nitrogen atoms of a bpym bidentate ligand in a distorted octahedral environment. The structures of 3 and 4 consist of [ReX(4)(bpym)](-) anions and PPh(4)(+) () or NBu(4)…
