Normativity, moral realism, and unmasking explanations

Moral Projectivism must be able to specify under what conditions a certain inner response counts as a moral response. I argue, however, that moral projectivists cannot coherently do so because they must assume that there are moral properties in the world in order to fix the content of our moral judgements. To show this, I develop a number of arguments against moral dispositionalism, which is, nowadays, the most prom- ising version of moral projectivism. In this context, I call into question both David Lewis' dispositionalist account of colour and Chistine Korsgaard's procedural realism.

The problem I discuss is whether the behaviors which are the product of the exercise of disciplinary power may be characterized as “normative”, and if so in what sense of the word “normative”. Disciplinary power is, I will say, the “inscription of norms” in the body of those who are subject to it. I distinguish two ways (“indirect” and “direct” inscription) in which norms may be inscribed, through the exercise of disciplinary power, in the body of the subjects, which I dub, respectively, “automatic execution (of norms)” and “normative automatisms”. Background and purpose: In school physical education (PE) lessons, gender is often produced heteronormatively. Lesbian, gay, bi, transgender, intersexual, and queer (LGBTIQ+) students have reported experiences of discrimination and obstacles to participation. This study analyzed Finnish PE teachers and LGBTIQ+ students’ talk about discrimination and problematic practices in PE and how equality in PE might be improved. Tutkimme tässä artikkelissa liikunnanopettajien puhetapoja seksuaali- ja sukupuolivähemmistöihin kuuluvista oppilaista koululiikunnassa. Aineisto koostuu kymmenen opettajan haastatteluaineistosta sekä 105 opettajan verkkokyselyaineistosta. Analysoimme laadullisella sisällönanalyysilla puhetavoista heteronormatiivisuutta sekä sukupuolen moninaisuutta. Similar and equal relationships? Negotiating bisexuality in an enduring relationship

In the public debate in Finland, same-sex couples’ right to legal recognition is routinely defended by stressing their sameness to heterosexual couples within the discourse of romantic love. This article explores how bisexual women and their partners use these discourses. The five couple interviews were analyzed by implementing discourse analysis. The results highlight how, when taking positions within the discourse of the enduring couple relationship, the interviewees drew on the discourse of romantic love.
