Adolescent exposure to cannabinoids enhances the behavioural effects of cocaine, and high novelty-seeking trait predicts greater sensitivity to the conditioned place preference (CPP) induced by this drug. Our aim was to evaluate the influence of novelty-seeking on the effects of adolescent cannabinoid exposure. Adolescent male mice were classified as high or low novelty seekers (HNS and LNS) in the hole-board test. First, we evaluated the CPP induced by the cannabinoid agonist WIN 55212-2 (0.05 and 0.075 mg/kg, i.p.) in HNS and LNS mice. This article presents and analyses chapter XLVI from the Tractat de les penes particulars d’infern by Catalan franciscan friar Joan Pasqual, written soon after 1436. This chapter, “Del cercle de l’alquimia”, includes an exemplum which is doubly significant: on the one hand, it documents the alchemic legend in the Plantagenets’ court during the 14th and 15th centuries; on the other hand, and most importantly, it is a new testimony of two narrative motifs of Eastern origin: the fake alchemist and the king (Thompson, K.111.4; Tubach, 89), and the account-book of mistakes or fools (Thompson,J.1371). When depicting boys and men, Antonina Domańska is well aware of the recipients and their needs. Her fictional characters are often teenage boys who find themselves in the middle of the action. Their adventures are building blocks of the plot and encourage the recipients to read on. The author focuses on the child’s naturę in the first place, and the principles come afterwards. Domańska depicts progressive, at the time, relations between adults and children.
