Statistical decay of hyperfragments

2011

Combining the unique features of the hypernuclear electro-production mechanism and the high precision in magnetic spectroscopy, the proposed E-08-012 experiment at Jefferson Lab, Virginia, and the scheduled hypernuclear experiment at MAMI, Germany, focus on the high-resolution spectroscopy of weak two-body decay pions from hypernuclei. These experiments will provide insight on a wide range of light hypernuclei via the production of hyperfragments from 9 Be, 6,7 Li and 12 C targets. In the present work we explore the production of Λ-hypernuclei following the micro-canonical break-up of an initially excited hypernucleus which is created by the electro/photo-production reaction. Finally the mo…

Investigation of the Li9+H2→Li8+t reaction at REX-ISOLDE

2006

The one-neutron transfer reaction Li-9 + H-2 -> Li-8 + t has been investigated in an inverse kinematics experiment by bombarding a deuterated polypropylene target with a 2.36 MeV/u Li-9 beam from the post-accelerator REX-ISOLDE at CERN. Excitation energies in Li-8 as well as angular distributions of the tritons were obtained and spectroscopic factors deduced. (c) 2006 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Neutrino-nuclear responses for astro-neutrinos, single beta decays and double beta decays

2019

Abstract Neutrino–nuclear responses associated with astro-neutrinos, single beta decays and double beta decays are crucial in studies of neutrino properties of interest for astro-particle physics. The present report reviews briefly recent studies of the neutrino–nuclear responses from both experimental and theoretical points of view in order to obtain a consistent understanding of the many facets of the neutrino–nuclear responses. Subjects discussed in this review include (i) experimental studies of neutrino–nuclear responses by means of single beta decays, charge-exchange nuclear reactions, muon- photon- and neutrino–nuclear reactions, and nucleon-transfer reactions, (ii) implications of a…

Levels of two-particle and gamma bands in 192 Ir

2015

Abstract Level scheme of the transitional doubly odd nucleus 192 Ir is analysed in detail up to about 530 keV energy using earlier published experimental data of neutron capture and particle transfer reactions. A number of new levels are proposed. Obtained 192 Ir level scheme is interpreted in terms of particle-plus-rotor coupling model. It is shown that the long-lived 241 year isomer of 192 Ir has spin-parity 11 − , just like the analogous states in neighbouring 190,194 Ir.

Spectroscopy of the neutron-deficient nucleusOs16791

2009

Excited states of the nucleus Os-167 have been populated by the reaction Mo-92(Kr-78,2pn). The JUROGAM gamma-ray detector array has been used in conjunction with the RITU gas-filled separator and the GREAT spectrometer to observe prompt gamma rays in coincidence with recoiling fusion-evaporation residues and their subsequent decay by alpha particle emission. By correlating prompt gamma radiation with the characteristic alpha radioactivity of Os-167, it has been possible to extend the level scheme for this nucleus significantly. In particular, an extension of the yrast band and four previously unobserved bands are reported. In addition, the recoil distance Doppler-shift method was used to de…

Energy damping and intermediate-velocity fragment emission in peripheral Kr+Au collisions at 43 MeV/u

1992

Abstract Triple and four-fold coincidences among fragments have been measured in the reaction 84 Kr+Au at 43 MeV/u. All events showing the projectile-like nucleus and fission fragments of the target-like nucleus, and all events with one additional intermediate-velocity fragment, were analysed in the frame of a dissipative collision and a participant-spectator model. The mechanism is basically that of a dissipative collision but the emission of the intermediate velocity fragment by the target differs from an equilibrated evaporation.

The (γ, n) reaction on 16O between giant resonance and pion threshold

1982

Abstract A new TOF facility has been built for measurements of differential (γ, n) cross sections to discrete final states of light nuclei in the photon energy range between giant resonance and pion threshold. The observed neutron angle θn can continuously be varied between 0° and 150°, and additionally measurements at 175° and 180° are possible. Differential cross sections for the reaction 16O(γ, n0)15O are presented for Eγ = 60 MeV (40° ⩽ θn ⩽ 149°) and for θn = 90° (60 MeV ⩽ Eγ ⩽ 160 MeV). The results, combined with the corresponding (γ, p0) cross sections, indicate an absorption mechanism of high energy photons by neutron-proton pairs.

Total cross sections of reactions induced by neutron-rich light nuclei

1989

Total nuclear reaction cross-sections are determined by means of a 4π-γ method. The results cover a wide span of targets for various stable beams. The validity of the method is shown in a combined systematics including also the results of transmission-type experiments. The data are very well described by the formula developed by Kox et al. The same method is applied to secondary fragment beams produced from a 44 MeV/u22Ne beam on a 332mg/cm2 181Ta target. Using the LISE spectrometer the fragments4, 6He,6–9, 11Li,7, 9–12, 14Be,10–15, 17B11–19C,13–19N,15–21O,18– 21F and20,21 Ne are analyzed and transported to interact with a 199.4 mg/cm2 Cu target surrounded by a 4π-γ counter. The measured to…
