A formal model of measurement is constructed and its components are outlined in this paper. An integrated hierarchical formal four-level structure which allows description of the multiple heterogeneous properties of a complex object under measurement is developed in order to have a uniform tool for the selection of specific scales for the measurement of these properties. Starting from an analysis of the panel data provided by the French Ministry of Education, the main object of this paper is an original measurement of skills using structural models. The findings of this research raise two complementary issues. The first issue concerns the cross-curricular nature of skills suggesting a logic of disciplinary interdependence. Abstract: This contribution focuses on Italian adverbs ending in -mente (e.g. lussuosamente ‘luxuriously’) with an analytic counterpart (a multi-word expression, MWE) which is etymologically related and it is capable of equally performing the adverbial function (e.g. di lusso). Two sentences diverging only in this regard have the same truth values and they entail each other. Morphologically, such adverbial MWEs are formed by a preposition which is followed by a noun/adjective sharing the content morpheme of the -mente adverb. This first chapter aims to deciphering the unresolved ties that harken back to patriarchy, a category used to justify all kinds of abuse and maltreatment of women, even in recent years. The more representations legitimizing the centuries-old exercise of control by men over women’s bodies are shared socially, the more they relegate women to positions of segregation. This is a practice typical of patriarchal systems, which tend to place the weakest subject in a position of permanent subordination. In the case of migrant women, in extreme cases, patriarchy even arrives at the dehumanization, objectification, and reification of their bodies.

Specific changes occur in the cells of the uppers layers of the cat's superior colliculus when a two dimensional noise (background) is superimposed onto a deterministic signal (spot of light). Some of the measurements can be interpreted as meaning that some cells only react to certain relative movements of object (spot) and background (noise). The movement of the visual background is interpreted as environmental movement occurring due to the animal's own movement.
