The potential role of active CMV infection in promoting acute Graft-versus-Host Disease (aGvHD) in allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT) remains a matter of debate. We further addressed this issue conducting a retrospective, observational, multicenter study of 632 patients subjected to allogeneic peripheral blood HSCT at 20 Spanish centers. Monitoring of CMV DNA load in plasma or whole blood was performed by real-time PCR assays. Graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) is a frequent life-threatening complication after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) and induced by donor-derived T cells that become activated by host antigen-presenting cells. To address the relevance of host dendritic cell (DC) populations in this disease, we used mouse strains deficient in CD11c(+) or CD8α(+) DC populations in a model of acute GVHD where bone marrow and T cells from BALB/c donors were transplanted into C57BL/6 hosts. A ligand comprised of a macrocyclic pyridinophane core having a pendant arm containing a secondary amine group linked through a methylene spacer to a pyridyl–oxadiazole–phenyl (PyPD) fluorescent system has been prepared (L). The crystal structures of [ZnL](ClO4)2 and [CuL](ClO4)2 show that M2+ is coordinated to all the nitrogen atoms of the macrocyclic core, the secondary amine of the pendant arm and the nitrogen atom of the pyridine group of the fluorescent moiety, the latter bond being clearly weaker than the one with the pyridine of the macrocycle. Metformīna efekti uz mikrogliozi, holīnerģisko neirotransmisiju un sinapšu blīvumu pie sporādiskas Alcheimera slimības tipa patoloģijas

Šajā pētījumā noteica perorāli ievadīta metformīna (75 mg/kg un 100 mg/kg devās) efektus uz vairākiem sporādiskās Alcheimera slimības tipa modeļžurku smadzeņu procesiem: neiroiekaisumu, sinapšu blīvuma samazināšanos un acetilholīnesterāzes aktivitāti. Pētījuma rezultāti parāda, ka abās devās metformīns spēj novērst mikrogliozi, sinaptiskā blīvuma samazināšanos un normalizēt acetilholīnesterāzes blīvumu modeļžurku smadzenēs. Iegūtie dati norāda uz metformīna neiroprotektīvo potenciālu sporādiskās Alcheimera slimības patoloģisko izmaiņu novēršanu. Nepieciešami tālākie pētījumi, lai uzzinātu visu metformīna neiroprotektīva potenciāla klāstu sAD-tipa modelī.
