Amino-phosphanes in Rh(I)-catalyzed hydroformylation: new mechanistic insights using D2O as deuterium-labeling agent

2005

International audience; In previous work, we have demonstrated that the dangling amino group in amino-phosphane ligands increases the rate of Rh-catalyzed styrene hydroformylation as a function of the amino group basicity and of the distance between the P and N functions. We now report additional stereochemical and mechanistic insights resulting from new catalytic experiments performed with Rh-α-P,N catalytic systems in the presence of D2O. In addition to the expected D0 product, the formation of the β-D1 aldehyde, PhCH(CH2D)CHO was observed in all cases by 1H and 13C NMR spectroscopy, indicating that H/D exchange occurs for the rhodium-hydride complex. Minor amounts of a β-D2 product, PhCH…

ChemInform Abstract: Photoinduced Molecular Rearrangements. The Photochemistry of Some 1,2, 4-Oxadiazoles in the Presence of Nitrogen Nucleophiles. F…

2010

The photochemistry of some 3,5-disubstituted 1,2,4-oxadiazoles in the presence of nitrogen nucleophiles [external, such as added amines or hydrazines, or internal, such as an o-aminophenyl moiety at C(3) of the oxadiazole ring] has been investigated. In the irradiation of 5-amino-(or 5-N-substituted amino) 3-phenyl-1,2,4-oxadiazoles in the presence of aliphatic primary amines (or ammonia), photolytic species arising from heterolytic cleavage of the ring O−N bond capture the nucleophilic reagent to give open-chain intermediates, which develop into 1,2,4-triazolin-5-ones. Similarly, irradiations of 3,5-diphenyl-, 3-methoxy-5-phenyl-, and 5-methyl-3-phenyl-1,2,4-oxadiazoles gave 1,2,4-triazole…

2018

A series of 2,6-bis-styryl-4H-pyran-4-ylidene fragment containing glassy organic compounds with chemically stable bonding of amorphous phase promoting bulky triphenyl moieties through piperazine structural fragment (DWK-T dyes) in a form of 2-(5,5,5-triphenylpentyl)piperazin-1-yl)styryl)-substituent have been synthesized and investigated as the potential gain medium component for organic solid state laser applications. Physical properties of the dyes vary and are mostly depending from the other styryl-substituent attached to the 4H-pyran-4-ylidene backbone fragment in 6-position. Thermal stability of synthesized dyes is above 312°C with the glass transitions from 97°C to 109°C. Obtained nea…

Field desorption mass spectrometric characterization of thiol conjugates related to the oxidative metabolism of the anticancer drug 4′-(9-acridinylam…

1983

Conjugation products with glutathione (GSH) and other endogenous thiol derivatives related to the oxidative metabolism of the anticancer drug, 4′-(9-acridinlyamino) methanesulfon-m-anisidide (m-AMSA) were synthesized and characterized by field desorption mass spectrometry. The primary microsomal oxidation product of m-AMSA, m-AQDI, was prepared by MnO2 oxidation of the parent drug and reacted with equimolar GSH, cysteine, N-acetylcysteine and N-acetylcysteine methyl ester to form m-AMSA-(5′)-thiol conjugates linkedat the aniline ring, as major products. Field desorption mass spectra of the conjugates provided abundant [MH]plus; ions, and characteristic fragment ions by cleavage at the thioe…

A Paradigm Interpreting the City and the Analytic Network Process for the Management of Urban Transformations

2018

When urban and environmental transformations occur in areas where the equilibrium between nature and culture is complex and fragile, public ad-ministrations could decide to induce private investments using several tools, such as financial contributions to those projects of refurbishment that better re-spect the purpose of improving the environmental quality and of preserving the local architecture. Multicriteria models may support public decision process re-garding this issue, but it is essential to adopt a scientific paradigm that provides a major theoretical reference. This study proposes the development of a net-work model based on the scientific paradigm by Rizzo and the Analytic Net-wo…

Anemia of Chronic Disease: Pathophysiology and Laboratory Diagnosis

2005

Classic iron deficiency (ID) does not represent a challenge for the laboratory and physicians. The anemia that accompanies infection, inflammation, and cancer, commonly termed anemia of chronic disease (ACD), features apparently normal or increased iron stores. However, 20% of these patients have iron-restricted erythropoiesis (functional ID), an imbalance between the iron requirements of the erythroid marrow and the actual iron supply. Functional ID leads to a reduction in red cell hemoglobiniza-tion, causing hypochromic microcytic anemia. The diagnosis of functional ID in real time is based on measuring the hemoglobin content of reticulocytes. An examination of the biochemical markers of …

The erythropoietin and regenerative medicine: a lesson from fish

2009

Background Erythropoietin (EPO), the main haematopoietic growth factor for the proliferation and differentiation of erythroid progenitor cells, is also known for its angiogenic and regenerative properties. Materials and methods In this study, we aimed to test the regenerative effects of EPO administration in an experimental model of Sea bass (Dicentrarchus labrax) subjected to amputation of the caudal fin. Results Erythropoietin-treated fishes (3000 UI of human recombinant EPO-alpha immediately after cutting and after 15 days) showed an increased growth rate of their fins compared with those untreated (ANOVA variance: P :0 AE01 vs. P :0 AE04). By analysing fin length at established times (1…

The role of erythropoietin in aneurysmal subarachnoid haemorrhage: from bench to bedside.

2014

Subarachnoid haemorrhage (SAH) caused by a ruptured aneurysm accounts for only 5% of strokes, but occurs at a fairly young age and carries a poor prognosis. Delayed cerebral ischaemia (DCI) is an important cause of death and dependence after aneurysmal SAH. The current mainstay of preventing DCI is nimodipine and maintenance of normovolemia, but even with this strategy DCI occurs in a considerable proportion of patients. Several drugs have been developed that have the potential to limit cerebral vasospasm and delayed ischaemic neurologic defi cit, thus improving outcome for patients. However, although numerous agents can prevent arterial narrowing and/or block the excitatory cascade of even…

Ring splitting of azetidin-2-ones via radical anions

2012

The radical anions of azetidin-2-ones, generated by UV-irradiation in the presence of triethylamine, undergo ring-splitting via N-C4 or C3-C4 bond breaking, leading to open-chain amides. This reactivity diverges from that found for the neutral excited states, which is characterised by alpha-cleavage. The preference for beta-cleavage is supported by DFT theoretical calculations on the energy barriers associated with the involved transition states. Thus, injection of one electron into the azetidin-2-one moiety constitutes a complementary activation strategy which may be exploited to produce new chemistry.
