Współpraca transgraniczna jako czynnik transformacji międzynarodowych funkcji granicy ukraińsko-polskiej

2014

Zbadano determinanty funkcjonowania euroregionów, obejmujących tereny przygraniczne Polski i Ukrainy.

2020

Associations Between Personality Structure, Unconscious Conflicts, and Defense Styles in Adolescence According to the Operationalized Psychodynamic Diagnosis in Childhood and Adolescence, associations between personality structure, unconscious conflicts, and defense styles are postulated. So far, an empirical investigation of these associations in mentally healthy adolescents is missing. The present study aims to contribute to the understanding of unconscious conflicts as well as the unconscious defense of conflicts by elucidating intrapersonal factors within a normative sample. Furthermore, the aim of this study is to analyse the extent to which sex, age, and socioeconomic status are relat…

The Average State Complexity of the Star of a Finite Set of Words Is Linear

2008

We prove that, for the uniform distribution over all sets Xof m(that is a fixed integer) non-empty words whose sum of lengths is n, $\mathcal{D}_X$, one of the usual deterministic automata recognizing X*, has on average $\mathcal{O}(n)$ states and that the average state complexity of X*is i¾?(n). We also show that the average time complexity of the computation of the automaton $\mathcal{D}_X$ is $\mathcal{O}(n\log n)$, when the alphabet is of size at least three.

Unit Operations in Approximation Spaces

2010

Unit operations are some special functions on sets. The concept of the unit operation originates from researches of U. Wybraniec-Skardowska. The paper is concerned with the general properties of such functions. The isomorphism between binary relations and unit operations is proved. Algebraic structures of families of unit operations corresponding to certain classes of binary relations are considered. Unit operations are useful in Pawlak's Rough Set Theory. It is shown that unit operations are upper approximations in approximation space. We prove, that in the approximation space (U, R) generated by a reflexive relation R the corresponding unit operation is the least definable approximation i…

La investigación en docencia en dirección de operaciones: Tendencias y retos

2011

[EN] Purpose: The objective is to analyse research in Operations Management (OM) teaching published in high impact journals in the area in order to examine trends and set future challenges. Design/methodology/approach: A bibliometric study was carried out of 45 of the main JCR OM and Management journals for the 1995-2010 period. The 129 articles identified on research in OM teaching were analysed. Findings: There is a dearth of articles on teaching in the main OM and Management journals. Sixty-two point two percent of the journals analysed have not published any and the remainder (17) have devoted only 0.4% of all their publications to this subject area. Descriptive and theoretical/conceptu…

"University - Enterprise Cooperation" in Biosystems Engineering: an ERABEE Thematic Network European survey

2009

This survey was carried out through the data analysis of the “University-Enterprise Cooperation” questionnaire, which was developed and distributed to all the partners of the EU funded ERABEE-TN . 37 industries involved in the area of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering (i.e. industries of machines, equipment and materials for agriculture, food processing industries, companies of renewable energy systems and services for agriculture and environment) from 13 European countries replied to this questionnaire. The most significant result of this survey is the importance given to the cooperation between Universities and enterprises specialised in Biosystems Engineering. In fact, the majority…

A reconsideration of the link between vertical externality and managerial incentives

2018

Previous research revealed that the strategic role of delegation contracts disappears if two quantity†setting firms outsource input production to a monopolistic supplier. I show that this role is restored if the assumption of a downstream duopoly is relaxed. Thus, delegation contracts allow downstream profit†maximizing owners to commit their firms to a behavior that differs from their preferences. This behavior varies nonmonotonically with the number of firms in the downstream market. Corresponding deviations from profit maximization are larger if the upstream monopolist makes a price precommitment. But little to no deviation occurs if the number of firms is large.

The effect of cooperative infrastructure fees on high-speed rail and airline competition

2021

Abstract This paper explores the effects of cooperation between rail and air infrastructures in setting per-passenger fees prior to competition among airlines and high-speed rail (HSR) in a transport network. It is shown that, for a sufficiently low degree of substitution, cooperation results in lower fees and greater HSR traffic than under competition. Besides, it leads to more connecting passengers. An empirical application allows for a quantitative assessment of cooperation. Gains to passengers and operators are sizeable when cooperation either involves all infrastructure managers or the rail and the hub airport managers. Welfare gains are in the range of 10.4–11.1%. Our contribution off…

Latent Class Approach to Estimate the Willingness to Pay for Transit User Information

2012

The aim of analysis is to understand how unreliable information influences user behaviour and how much it discourages public transport use. For this purpose, a Stated Preference Survey was carried out in order to know the preferences of public transport users relating to information needs and uncertainty on the information provided by Advanced Traveller Information System (ATIS). The perceived uncertainty is defined as information inaccuracy. In our study, we consider- ed the difference between forecasted or scheduled waiting time at the bus stop and/or metro station provided by ATIS, and that experienced by user, to catch the bus and/or metro. A questionnaire was submitted to an appropriat…

Preliminary photochemical studies of fluorene in various aqueous media

2014

- The current study investigates the direct photochemical degradation of aqueous fluorene with the aid of a 125W polychromatic medium, pressure Hg lamp. The purpose was to test the effectiveness of the lamp in irradiation using fluorene spiked solution as substrate. A 700 ml volume of fluorene solution of 0.002 mg/l was irradiated batch-wise at 1, 3, 6, 12, 18, 24 and 48 h. The amount of fluorene removal was studied for fluorene solutions prepared from , neutral (distilled water), acidic (by adjusting pH with hydrochloric acid, HCl), basic (by adjusting pH with sodium hydroxide, NaOH) and saline (addition of sodium chloride, NaCl) solutions and there was 95.95, 92.35, 96.65 and 97.15 % remo…
