Finnish-Chinese intercultural negotiation : power positioning and search for common ground
2018
‘Rising China’ is a term that has come to refer to China’s march to being number one, the speed of its economic growth, and its investment around the world during last two decades. In Finland, government agencies have been established to promote investment, trade, and co-operation with China, while regional and local governments are also actively involved. Meanwhile, much of the world is now competing for the attention of China, so the power dynamic is tending to shift in favour of the Chinese. This developing context has been examined in previous studies primarily from the perspectives of politics, economics, and management studies. The overarching aim of this study is to investigate emerg…
Developing Cybersecurity in an Industrial Environment by Using a Testbed Environment
2023
Critical infrastructure protection requires a testing environment that allows the testing of different kinds of equipment, software, networks, and tools to develop vital functions of the critical industrial environment. Used electrical equipment must be reliable, capable and maintain a stable critical industrial ecosystem. An industrial business needs to develop cybersecurity capabilities that detect and prevent IT/ICT and OT/ICS threats in an industrial environment. The emerging trend has been to create security operations center (SOC) services to detect ICS-related threats in enterprise networks. The energy supply sector must consist of crucial elements for safe business continuity and su…
Unravelling the rationalities of childhood cycling promotion
2022
Decrease of children’s independent mobility (CIM) has worried academics, policymakers, educators and other professionals for decades. Research and policy often emphasise that promoting children’s physically active and independent transport modes as cycling is important to achieve better public health, solve environmental challenges and increase related economic benefits. Yet, cycling promotion is not a neutral process and all promotion efforts are derived from latent notions of ‘cyclists’ and ‘cycling’. This paper discusses different rationalities of childhood cycling promotion and the representations of ‘children’ as independent ‘cyclists’ they entail. We argue that in order to efficiently…
Mean speed in professional cycling: No evidence of decline
2014
Abstract The aim of this article was to evaluate the mean speed progression of the three major cycling stage races in order to empirically establish whether excellent in performance in professional cycling is to some extent correlated with the trend of blood doping and anti-doping throughout more than a century of official cycling competitions. We retrieved data about the mean speed of the winners of the Tour de France, Giro d’Italia and Vuelta a Espana, since their beginning. A linear correlation has then been calculated between the years and the mean speed in km/h for each single major cycling stage race, as well as for the mean speed of the winners of the three major cycling stage races …
Didaktisko spēļu loma sadarbības veicināšanai 2.klasē dabaszinību stundās
2022
Bakalaura darbā ”Didaktisko spēļu loma sadarbības veicināšanai 2. klasē dabaszinību stundās” analizēta aktualitāte, kā veicināt sadarbības prasmes, izmantojot didaktiskās spēles. Pētījuma hipotēze ir sadarbības prasmju veicināšana didaktiskajās spēlēs būs sekmīga, ja: a) skolotājs organizē darbu un sekmē aktīvu iesaistīšanos didaktiskās spēles laikā; b)visiem skolēniem ir iespējas gūt panākumus.
Data-Driven Interactive Multiobjective Optimization Using a Cluster-Based Surrogate in a Discrete Decision Space
2019
In this paper, a clustering based surrogate is proposed to be used in offline data-driven multiobjective optimization to reduce the size of the optimization problem in the decision space. The surrogate is combined with an interactive multiobjective optimization approach and it is applied to forest management planning with promising results. peerReviewed

A decomposition approach for multidimensional knapsacks with family-split penalties
2022
The optimization of Multidimensional Knapsacks with Family-Split Penalties has been introduced in the literature as a variant of the more classical Multidimensional Knapsack and Multi-Knapsack problems. This problem deals with a set of items partitioned in families, and when a single item is picked to maximize the utility, then all items in its family must be picked. Items from the same family can be assigned to different knapsacks, and in this situation split penalties are paid. This problem arises in real applications in various fields. This paper proposes a new exact and fast algorithm based on a specific Combinatorial Benders Cuts scheme. An extensive experimental campaign computational…
Gry kooperacyjne w podejmowaniu decyzji logistycznych
2017
W artykule zaprezentowano możliwości zastosowania teorii gier kooperacyjnych w podejmowaniu decyzji logistycznych. Wskazano, że kooperacja pozwala na generowanie korzyści i efektów synergicznych i może być z powodzeniem stosowana w procesie podejmowania decyzji w całym łańcuchu dostaw.
