Our study aimed to investigate the patterns of children’s relationships with their parents and teachers, the development of these relationships during Grade 1, and respective links to children’s learning (in task persistence and performance). Parents of 350 children answered questionnaires about the quality of their relationships with their children; 25 teachers answered questions about children’s task persistence at school and the quality of their relationships with their students; 350 children completed literacy and math performance tests; and six testers evaluated children’s task persistence when completing those tests. Pyrkimys autonomisuuteen on yksi ihmisen psykologisista perustarpeista, joka alkaa kehittyä noin kahdesta ikävuodesta eteenpäin. Autonomiaa on kuitenkin tutkittu empiirisesti hyvin vähän varhaiskasvatuksen kontekstissa. Tarkastelemme tässä laadullisessa tutkimuksessa 4–5-vuotiaiden lasten autonomiaa päiväkodissa lastentarhanopettajien näkökulmasta havainnointien ja haastatteluiden sekä lastentarhanopettajien päiväkirjojen ja kirjoitelmien kautta. This ethnographic study examines intergenerational relations in a day-care center with extended opening hours. The theoretical starting points of the study draw on Michel Foucault’s concept of governmentality. Therefore, this dissertation aims to generate insights into intergenerational relations in a day care with extended hours from the viewpoint of governance. The data for the study were collected from one Finnish day-care class through observation and half- structured interviews. Teacher-child interactions as a context for developing social competence in toddler classrooms

The present study investigates the quality and variability of teacher-child interactions in relation to children’s social competence in Finnish toddler classrooms. The participants included 242 toddlers (114 girls, 128 boys) and their teachers (N= 42). The quality of teacher-child interactions (i.e., emotional and behavioral support; engaged support for learning) was observed using the CLASS-Toddler observation instrument (La Paro et al., 2012), and the average amount of within-day variability was calculated from the observed cycles. Tutkimuksemme tarkoituksena oli selvittää nuorten henkistä pahoinvointia aiheuttavia tekijöitä, henkisen pahoinvoinnin näkymistä koulun liikuntatunnilla ja opettajien vuorovaikutuksellisia keinoja kohdata vaikeita sosiaalisia tilanteita oppilaiden kanssa. Keräsimme henkistä hyvinvointia kartoittavan kyselylomakeaineiston Keski-Suomen alueen yhtenäiskoulun kahdeksasluokkalaisilta oppilailta (n=25) ja haastattelut heidän kahdelta liikunnanopettajaltaan. Tutkimukseni tehtävänä on selvittää kolmannen sektorin roolia sosiaalisessa asuntotuotannossa. Tarkastelen, mitä mahdollisuuksia ja haasteita asunto- ja asumispalvelutuotantoon liittyy, kun tuottajana ei ole yksityinen tai julkinen toimija. Tutkin asiaa sekä kolmannen sektorin organisaation että organisaation asiakkaiden näkökulmista, joista viimeksi mainittu saa kuitenkin enemmän painoarvoa. Hypoteesina on, että kolmannen sektorin asuntotuotanto voi vahvistaa asukkaiden yhteisöllisyyden kokemusta edistämällä verkostoitumista.
