Probabilistic Selection Approaches in Decomposition-based Evolutionary Algorithms for Offline Data-Driven Multiobjective Optimization
2022
In offline data-driven multiobjective optimization, no new data is available during the optimization process. Approximation models, also known as surrogates, are built using the provided offline data. A multiobjective evolutionary algorithm can be utilized to find solutions by using these surrogates. The accuracy of the approximated solutions depends on the surrogates and approximations typically involve uncertainties. In this paper, we propose probabilistic selection approaches that utilize the uncertainty information of the Kriging models (as surrogates) to improve the solution process in offline data-driven multiobjective optimization. These approaches are designed for decomposition-base…
Projections onto the Pareto surface in multicriteria radiation therapy optimization
2015
Purpose: To eliminate or reduce the error to Pareto optimality that arises in Pareto surface navigation when the Pareto surface is approximated by a small number of plans. Methods: The authors propose to project the navigated plan onto the Pareto surface as a postprocessing step to the navigation. The projection attempts to find a Pareto optimal plan that is at least as good as or better than the initial navigated plan with respect to all objective functions. An augmented form of projection is also suggested where dose–volume histogram constraints are used to prevent that the projection causes a violation of some clinical goal. The projections were evaluated with respect to planning for int…

Measurement of trilinear gauge couplings in e(+)e(-) collisions at 161 GeV and 172 GeV
1998
Trilinear gauge boson couplings are measured using data taken by DELPHI at 161 GeV and 172 GeV, Values for WWV couplings (V = Z,gamma) are determined from a study of the reactions e(+)e(-) --> W+W- and e(+)e(-) --> We nu, using differential distributions from the WW final state in which one W decays hadronically and the other leptonically, and total cross, section data from other channels, Limits are also derived on neutral ZV gamma couplings from an analysis of the reaction e(+)e(-) --> gamma + invisible particles. Rethinking Dual Disorders/Pathology
2013
Objective:Comorbidity of addictive disorders and other psychiatric disorders is very common. The optimal treatment of patients with addiction disorders requires awareness of their comorbid mental disorders and vice versa. The operational and contextual definitions of the different terms used vary si

The forgotten mathematical legacy of Peano
2019
International audience; The formulations that Peano gave to many mathematical notions at the end of the 19th century were so perfect and modern that they have become standard today. A formal language of logic that he created, enabled him to perceive mathematics with great precision and depth. He described mathematics axiomatically basing the reasoning exclusively on logical and set-theoretical primitive terms and properties, which was revolutionary at that time. Yet, numerous Peano’s contributions remain either unremembered or underestimated.
The development of oral feeding skills in infants.
2012
Appropriate nutritional intake is a major component of growth in infants. Interests in nutrition customarily have been centered on the types of nutrients and caloric intake offered, for example, the benefits of mother's milk over that of formula, presence/absence of growth factors, and potential advantages provided by probiotics early in life [1, 2]. An important component of infant nutrition that has been overlooked until recently is the ability of infants to take their nutrients by mouth safely and successfully. As the majority of healthy term newborns are readily taken to the breast or bottle soon after birth, the ability to feed by mouth generally does not raise concern. However, over t…
