Microstructured Reactors for Polymer Synthesis: A Renaissance of Continuous Flow Processes for Tailor-Made Macromolecules?

2008

Organic synthesis in microfluidic devices has attracted increasing interest in recent years. However, little efforts had been undertaken to exploit this novel technology for polymer chemistry until several recent studies demonstrated the interesting potential of microreactors for the synthesis and modification of polymers. In fact, anionic polymerizations in continuous capillary flow-tube systems were established already in 1962 in pioneering work by Szwarc. Subsequent work focused on detailed kinetic analyses in such reactors. The present article explores different current strategies developed by several research groups to realize bulk and solution polymerizations using continuous flow mic…

Formation of arynezirconocenes from substituted diaryl bis (t-butylcyclopentadienyl) zirconium: application to the synthesis of new functionalizedort…

1991

The para-substituted diphenylzirconocenes [(t-BuCp)2Zr(p-C6H4R)2; R = Br, NMe2] (A) were easily obtained from the reaction of the appropriate organolithium reagent with bis(t-butylcyclopentadienyl)zirconium dichloride. Elimination of bromobenzene or N,N-dimethylaminobenzene from A by slight heating led to arynezirconocenes into which were inserted two equivalents of elementary chalcogens. As a result dichalcogenated zirconacycles [(t-BuCp)2ZrY2C6H3R; Y = S, Se] (B) were obtained. Complexes B constitute useful potential synthons in organic synthesis and a large family of new functionalized dichalcogenated benzenic compounds was prepared by reacting electrophiles. The structure of complexes B…

An Unexpected Three-Component Condensation Leading to Amino- (3-oxo-2,3-dihydro-1H-isoindol-1-ylidene)- acetonitriles

2004

The reaction of 2-carboxybenzaldehyde with primary amines in the presence of cyanide leads to the formation of 2-substituted amino(3-oxo-2,3-dihydro-1H-isoindol-1-ylidene)acetonitriles. These compounds originate from the condensation of 2-carboxybenzaldehyde with the amine and two molecules of hydrogen cyanide and represent a novel class of isoindolinones.

Synthetic and Biological Applications of Fluorous Reagents as Phase Tags

2011

The search for new and better techniques for the purification of organic compounds has made the recent emergence of fluorous chemistry in the field of organic synthesis possible. Using fluorous reagents as phase tags allows for the access of different synthetic routes, and this has been translated into a time reduction and higher simplicity compared to standard, nonfluorous procedures. The synthesis in fluorous phase of target molecules can be pursued in a parallel or combinatorial manner in order to access chemical libraries with structural and/or stereochemical diversity. The preparation of radiolabeled molecules also benefits from the advantages of fluorous synthesis. Finally, biochemica…
