Hybridity in Nordic Higher Education
2022
This article builds on the concept of nested hybridity. It emphasizes professional practices and organizational design in studying hybridity of steering and management of professional public service organization. The article compares public sector dynamics in higher education in Finland, Norway, and Sweden. The data consists of surveys and interviews on performance management in Nordic universities. On Ignoring the Random Effects Assumption in Multilevel Models: Review, Critique, and Recommendations
2019
Entities such as individuals, teams, or organizations can vary systematically from one another. Researchers typically model such data using multilevel models, assuming that the random effects are uncorrelated with the regressors. Violating this testable assumption, which is often ignored, creates an endogeneity problem thus preventing causal interpretations. Focusing on two-level models, we explain how researchers can avoid this problem by including cluster means of the Level 1 explanatory variables as controls; we explain this point conceptually and with a large-scale simulation. We further show why the common practice of centering the predictor variables is mostly unnecessary. Moreover, …
Effects of Sanctions, Moral Beliefs, and Neutralization on Information Security Policy Violations Across Cultures
2020
A principal concern of organizations is the failure of employees to comply with information security policies (ISPs). Deterrence theory is one of the most frequently used theories for examining ISP violations, yet studies using this theory have produced mixed results. Past research has indicated that cultural differences may be one reason for these inconsistent findings and have hence called for cross-cultural research on deterrence in information security. To address this gap, we formulated a model including deterrence, moral beliefs, shame, and neutralization techniques and tested it with the employees from 48 countries working for a large multinational company. peerReviewed

2022
The present article examines collaborative writing in organizational consulting and training, where writing takes place as part of a group discussion assignment and is carried out by using digital writing technologies. In the training, the groups use digital tablets as their writing device in order to document their answers in the shared digital platform. Using multimodal conversation analysis as a method, the article illustrates the way writing is interactionally accomplished in this setting where digital writing intertwines with face-to-face interaction as the groups jointly formulate a documentable written entry for specific institutional purposes. The results show how writing is manage…
Literature Review of Scientific Articles about Cyber Information Sharing
2021
This literature review presents a review of cyber information sharing based on systematic queries in four scientific databases. Hundreds of articles were handled and clustered. Relevant publications concerning cyber information sharing are succinctly described in the paper. The findings are discussed from the perspective of how to develop a cybersecurity information sharing system and what possible features might be included in the system. The literature review will comprise a new database for the Echo Early Warning System (E-EWS) concept. E-EWS aims at delivering a security operations support tool, enabling the members of the ECHO network to coordinate and share information in near real-ti…
