Constructing a Transmedia Universe : The Case of Battlestar Galactica

In this article, we define a ‘transmedia universe’ as encompassing the complexity of transmedia storytelling, production and consumption. In doing so, we use the popular science fiction television series Battlestar Galactica as a case study, including both the original and reimagined versions of the series and their various intramedia and transmedia, narrative and non-narrative, and diegetic and non-diegetic expansions. Moreover, we look beyond the official productions of the Battlestar Galactica franchise and include, for example, user-generated content within its transmedia universe. peerReviewed

Bakalaura darba „„Pasaules Dabas fonda” (World Wildlife Fund) sociālo reklāmas kampaņu vizuālo statisko reklāmu semiotiskā un auditorijas analīze (2010 – 2014)” ietvaros tiek pētītas semiotiskās iezīmes šīs organizācijas reklāmās, kā arī auditorijas attieksme pret tām. Darba pētījuma mērķis – noskaidrot reklāmu vēstījumu ietekmējošos semiotiskos faktorus. Darbā ir apskatītas teorijas par sociālo mārketingu, reklāmu, vizuālo komunikāciju. Empīriskajā daļā ir veikta kontentanalīze un semiotiskā analīze par 88 vizuālajām statiskajām reklāmām, kā arī auditorijas aptauja. Rezultātā sniegtas atbildes uz pētnieciskajiem jautājumiem un izdarīti secinājumi par pētījuma rezultātiem.

Towards Seamless IoT Device-Edge-Cloud Continuum:

In this paper we revisit a taxonomy of client-side IoT software architectures that we presented a few years ago. We note that the emergence of inexpensive AI/ML hardware and new communication technologies are broadening the architectural options for IoT devices even further. These options can have a significant impact on the overall end-to-end architecture and topology of IoT systems, e.g., in determining how much computation can be performed on the edge of the network. The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of rule changes on game-related statistics in men's water polo matches. A total of 856 men's matches played in all Olympic Games and World Championship since 1936 was analysed. The game-related statistics considered were: total goals, winners' goals, losers' goals, goals per minute, goals difference, relationship difference goals and total goals, and relationship difference goals and winners' goals.
