Heterobimetallic MOFs containing tetrathiocyanometallate building blocks: Pressure-induced spin crossover in the porous {Fe II(pz)[Pd II(SCN) 4]} 3D …

2012

Here we describe the synthesis, structure, and magnetic properties of two related coordination polymers made up of self-assembling Fe(II) ions, pyrazine (pz), and the tetrathiocyanopalladate anion. Compound {Fe(MeOH) 2[Pd(SCN) 4]}·pz (1a) is a two-dimensional coordination polymer where the Fe(II) ions are equatorially coordinated by the nitrogen atoms of four [Pd(SCN) 4] 2- anions, each of which connects four Fe(II) ions, forming corrugated layers {Fe[Pd(SCN) 4]} ∞. The coordination sphere of Fe(II) is completed by the oxygen atoms of two CH 3OH molecules. The layers stack one on top of each other in such a way that the included pz molecule establishes strong hydrogen bonds with the coordin…

1,3-Benzyl Migration in Iminium Ions: Evidence for a Fast Free-Radical Chain Reaction

2011

The “exocyclic” 1,3-benzyl shift observed in iminium salts derived from 1-benzyl-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroisoquinolines is related to the “endocyclic” Knabe rearrangement. A crossover experiment, isotopic labelling, the study of initiators and inhibitors as well as DFT calculations of gas-phase model structures provide evidence for a free-radical pathway under kinetic entropy control that is not affected by “slow” radical traps.

Frequency-dependent response and dynamic disorder

1991

Abstract This paper discusses selected aspects of the application of dynamic percolation models to ionic transport in mixed-ion superionic conductors. The discussion is based on an AB lattice gas model with hard-core repulsions and a ratio of τ, 0 ⩽ τ ⩽ ∞, between the transition rates of particles A and B. The frequency-dependent conductivity for a tracer particle is calculated within an effective-medium theory. The motion of the background B-particles is regarded as providing a fluctuating disordered environment for the tracer particles A. A crossover frequency separating high-frequency and low-frequency response is found which scales with τ as ω c ∼ τ 1 2 . The results for the dc limit ar…

Robust model-following control of parallel UPS single-phase inverters

2008

This paper presents a robust control technique applied to modular uninterruptible power-supply (UPS) inverters operating in parallel. When compared to conventional proportional-integral (PI) control, the proposed technique improves the response of the output voltage to load steps and to high distorted output currents, reducing the distortion of the output voltage. Furthermore, an excellent distribution of currents between modules is achieved, resulting in fine power equalization between the inverters on stream. The crossover frequency of the different loop gains involved is moderate, so that robustness to variations of the operation point and to modeling uncertainties is achieved. A compara…

Spin Cross-Over (SCO) Complex Based on Unsymmetrical Functionalized Triazacyclononane Ligand: Structural Characterization and Magnetic Properties

2019

International audience; The unsymmetrical ligand 1-(2-aminophenyl)-4,7-bis(pyridin-2-ylmethyl)-1,4,7-triazacyclononane (L6) has been prepared and characterized by NMR spectroscopy. The L6 ligand is based on the triazamacrocycle (tacn) ring that is functionalized by two flexible 2-pyridylmethyl and one rigid 2-aminophenyl groups. Reaction of this ligand with Fe(ClO4)2·xH2O led to the complex [Fe(L6)](ClO4)2 (1), which was characterized as the first Fe(II) complex based on the unsymmetrical N-functionalized tacn ligand. The crystal structure revealed a discrete monomeric [FeL6]2+ entity in which the unsymmetrical N-functionalized triazacyclononane molecule (L6) acts as hexadentate ligand. As …

Spin crossover in iron(II) tris(2-(2′-pyridyl)benzimidazole) complex monitored by variable temperature methods: synchrotron powder diffraction, DSC, …

2003

Abstract The thermal expansion of the spin crossover system [Fe(pybzim) 3 ](ClO 4 ) 2  · H 2 O (pybzim=2-(2 ′ -pyridyl)benzimidazole) has been determined from powder X-ray data between 50 and 250 K; the wavelength of the synchrotron source was 1.21888(1) A. The unit cell parameters of the triclinic crystal system were a =12.091 A, b =12.225 A, c =14.083 A, α =77.70°, β =80.35°, γ =74.35°, and V =1944.9 A 3 at 250 K. In addition to the linear thermal expansion of the unit cell volume, an extra expansion due to the low-spin (LS) to high-spin (HS) transition is observed. The V ( T ) function shows a sudden increase comparable with the step in the effective magnetic moment at the transition reg…

Spin Crossover in Fe(II) Molecular Compounds — Mössbauer and µSR Investigations

2002

The compound [Fe(ptz)6](C104)2 (ptz = 1-propyl-tetrazole) displays a complete and gradual spin crossover centred around 125 K as evidenced by magnetic and muon measurements over the temperature range ∼ 4.2–300 K. Although the crystal structure reveals only one crystallographic site, line broadening is observed in the Mossbauer spectra in the vicinity of the spin transition. The muon spin relaxation behaviour of this compound indicates that a structural transformation rather than dynamic processes may account for the observed spectral features. Both the Mossbauer and muon measurements are consistent with a mixture of high and low spin Fe ions in the transition region.
