Spin crossover in hexakis(1-(2-chloroethyl)-tetrazole)iron(II) complexes; synthesis and magnetic properties

2002

Abstract The spin-crossover complexes [Fe(teec)6](X)2 (with teec=1-(2-chloroethyl)-tetrazole and X=BF4, ClO4, PF6) possess two iron(II) sites each having a different spin-crossover behaviour. The magnetic behaviour of the complexes obtained by slow crystallisation differs strongly from those obtained by precipitation. This difference results in either a spin crossover of 50% (X=ClO4, crystalline), two gradual steps (X=BF4, PF6), or two steps, of which one is gradual and the other having a thermal hysteresis (X=ClO4 precipitated). Both 57Fe Mossbauer spectroscopy and magnetic susceptibility measurements have been recorded as a function of T. The crystal structure of [Fe(teec)6](BF4)2 has bee…

Control of the spin state by charge and ligand substitution: two-step spin crossover behaviour in a novel neutral iron(II) complex

2014

The influence of the charge and steric hindrance on the spin state of a series of four monomeric Fe-II complexes derived from the tridentate tigands 2-(1H-benzoimidazol-2-yl)-1,10-phenanthroline (Hphenbi) and 2-(1H-benzoimidazol-2-yl-9-methyl-1,10-phenanthroline (Hmphenbi) and their deprotonated forms (phenbi(-), mphenbi(-)) are investigated. The crystal structure and magnetic properties show that [Fe(Hphenbi)(2)](BF4)(2)center dot 1.5C(6)H(5)NO(2)center dot H2O (1) and its neutral form [Fe(phenbi)(2)]center dot 2CHCl(3)center dot H2O (2) are low-spin complexes at 400 K due to the strong ligand field imparted by the terpyridine-like tigand. In contrast, the steric hindrance induced by the m…

SISTEMI VERDI COME CULTURA RIGENERATIVA: STRUMENTI E TECNOLOGIE

2021

The study analyzes and proposes in the historical and in the area immediately to it adjacent, the "values-nature" of the buildings through the creation of gardens wall and vertical gardens in the elevatiloy of non-monumental buildings. The study deepens in particular the specificity of the garden roof and the garden vertical, recognizing benefits and critical issues that distinguish these green systems for construction. It also deepens the concept of resilience in close relationship sustainability and regenerative design applied to the built environment. The theme of regenerative design is studied and promoted as an adaptive strategy at the design stage; it requires you to leave nature stre…

Settore ICAR/12 - Tecnologia Dell'Architettura

Beatrice Rosso Spatafora e i Luna (XV secolo)

2011

Beatrice Rosso Spatafora, countess of Sclafani and Lady of Caltavuturo, first married Carlo Luna, earl of Caltabellotta. After obtaining the annulment of this marriage on the grounds…

Pressure and Thermally Induced Spin Crossover in a 2D Iron(II) Coordination Polymer {Fe[bipy(ttr)2]}n

2021

Using magnetic measurements and UV -visible spectroscopy we have studied the pressure influence on the spin crossover (SCO) properties of the 2D Fe (II) coordination polymer formulated {Fe[bipy(ttr) 2 ]} n . At variable temperature and fixed pressure, we have measured the magnetic property of this compound. Under different pressures and at room temperature, the visible spectroscopy has been observed. The magnetic experiment displays a two-step spin crossover behavior under pressure. The visible spectroscopic measurements at room temperature show a spin crossover with an asymmetric hysteresis at 0.4GPa.

Magnetism and Molecular Nonlinear Optical Second-Order Response Meet in a Spin Crossover Complex

2012

International audience; The quadratic hyperpolarizability of two inorganic Schiff base metal complexes which differ from each other by the nature of the central metal ion (FeII or ZnII) is estimated using hyper-Rayleigh light-scattering (HRS) measurements. The investigated FeII microcrystals exhibit a thermal spin-crossover (SCO) from a diamagnetic to a paramagnetic state centered at T1/2 = 233 K that can be reproduced by the HRS signal whose modest intensity is mainly due to their centrosymmetric packing structure. Diamagnetic ZnII microcrystals even lead to much weaker (∼400 times) HRS intensities which are in addition temperature-independent. These observations allow us to ascribe the ch…

Stimuli responsive hybrid magnets : tuning the photoinduced spin-crossover in Fe(III) complexes inserted into layered magnets

2013

The insertion of a [Fe(sal_2 trien)]^+ complex cation into a 2D oxalate network in the presence of different solvents results in a family of hybrid magnets with coexistence of magnetic ordering and photoinduced spin crossover (LIESST effect) in compounds [Fe^{III}(sal_2 trien)][Mn^{II}Cr^{III}(ox)_3]·CHCl_3 (1·CHCl_{3}) [Fe^{III}(sal_{2} trien)][Mn^{II}Cr^{III}(ox)_{3}]·CHBr_{3} (1·CHBr_{3}) and [Fe^{III}(sal_{2} trien)][Mn^{II}Cr^{III}(ox)_{3}]·CH_{2}Br_{2} (1·CH_{2}Br_{2}). The three compounds crystallize in a 2D honeycomb anionic layer formed by Mn^{II} and Cr^{III} ions linked through oxalate ligands and a layer of [Fe(sal_{2} trien)]^{+} complexes and solvent molecules (CHCl_{3} CHBr_{…

First Cobalt(II) Spin Crossover Compound with N4S2-Donorset

2020

Herein we report the synthesis and characterization of a novel bis-tridentate 1,3,4-thiadiazole ligand (L = 2,5-bis[(2-pyridylmethyl)thio]methyl-1,3,4-thiadiazole). Two new mononuclear complexes of the type [MII(L)2](ClO4)2 (with M = FeII (C1) and CoII (C2)) have been synthesized, containing the new ligand (L). In both complexes the metal centers are coordinated by an N4S2-donorset and each of the two ligands is donating to the metal ion with just one of the tridentate pockets. The iron(II) complex (C1) is in the low spin [LS] state below room temperature and shows an increase in the magnetic moment only above 300 K. In contrast, the cobalt(II) complex (C2) shows a gradual spin crossover (S…
