Effect of Multizone Refractive Multifocal Contact Lenses on Standard Automated Perimetry

2012

PURPOSE The aim of this study was to evaluate whether the creation of 2 foci (distance and near) provided by multizone refractive multifocal contact lenses (CLs) for presbyopia correction affects the measurements on Humphreys 24-2 Swedish interactive threshold algorithm (SITA) standard automated perimetry (SAP). METHODS In this crossover study, 30 subjects were fitted in random order with either a multifocal CL or a monofocal CL. After 1 month, a Humphrey 24-2 SITA standard strategy was performed. The visual field global indices (the mean deviation [MD] and pattern standard deviation [PSD]), reliability indices, test duration, and number of depressed points deviating at P<5%, P<2%, P<1%, an…

Effectiveness and Safety of Ustekinumab in Ulcerative Colitis: Real-world Evidence from the ENEIDA Registry

2021

Abstract Background and Aims The development programm UNIFI has shown promising results of ustekinumab in ulcerative colitis [UC] treatment which should be confirmed in clinical practice. We aimed to evaluate the durability, effectiveness, and safety of ustekinumab in UC in real life. Methods Patients included in the prospectively maintained ENEIDA registry, who received at least one intravenous dose of ustekinumab due to active UC [Partial Mayo Score [PMS]>2], were included. Clinical activity and effectiveness were defined based on PMS. Short-term response was assessed at Week 16. Results A total of 95 patients were included. At Week 16, 53% of patients had response [including 35% o…

MRF Model-Based Approach for Image Segmentation Using a Chaotic MultiAgent System

2006

In this paper, we propose a new Chaotic MultiAgent System (CMAS) for image segmentation. This CMAS is a distributed system composed of a set of segmentation agents connected to a coordinator agent. Each segmentation agent performs Iterated Conditional Modes (ICM) starting from its own initial image created initially from the observed one by using a chaotic mapping. However, the coordinator agent receives and diversifies these images using a crossover and a chaotic mutation. A chaotic system is successfully used in order to benefit from the special chaotic characteristic features such as ergodic property, stochastic aspect and dependence on initialization. The efficiency of our approach is s…

Social Network-Based Content Delivery in Device-to-Device Underlay Cellular Networks Using Matching Theory

2017

With the popularity of social network-based services, the unprecedented growth of mobile date traffic has brought a heavy burden on the traditional cellular networks. Device-to-device (D2D) communication, as a promising solution to overcome wireless spectrum crisis, can enable fast content delivery based on user activities in social networks. In this paper, we address the content delivery problem related to optimization of peer discovery and resource allocation by combining both the social and physical layer information in D2D underlay networks. The social relationship, which is modeled as the probability of selecting similar contents and estimated by using the Bayesian nonparametric models…

Discrimination between two memory channels by molecular alloying in a doubly bistable spin crossover material

2019

[EN] A multistable spin crossover (SCO) molecular alloy system [Fe1-xMx(nBu-im)(3)(tren)](P1-yAsyF6)(2) (M = Zn-II, Ni-II; (nBu-im)(3)(tren) = tris(n-butyl-imidazol(2-ethylamino))amine) has been synthesized and characterized. By controlling the composition of this isomorphous series, two cooperative thermally induced SCO events featuring distinct critical temperatures (T-c) and hysteresis widths (Delta T-c, memory) can be selected at will. The pristine derivative 100As (x = 0, y = 1) displays a strong cooperative two-step SCO and two reversible structural phase transitions (PTs). The low temperature PTLT and the SCO occur synchronously involving conformational changes of the ligand's n-buty…

Thermo- and photo-modulation of exciplex fluorescence in a 3D spin crossover Hofmann-type coordination polymer

2018

[EN] The search for bifunctional materials showing synergies between spin crossover (SCO) and luminescence has attracted substantial interest since they could be promising platforms for new switching electronic and optical technologies. In this context, we present the first three-dimensional Fe-II Hofmann-type coordination polymer exhibiting SCO properties and luminescence. The complex {Fe-II(bpben)[Au(CN)(2)]}@pyr (bpben = 1,4-bis(4-pyridyl)benzene) functionalized with pyrene (pyr) guests undergoes a cooperative multi-step SCO, which has been investigated by single crystal X-ray diffraction, single crystal UV-Vis absorption spectroscopy, and magnetic and calorimetric measurements. The resu…

Irreversible Multilayer Adsorption

1993

Random sequential adsorption (RSA) models have been studied due to their relevance to deposition processes on surfaces. The depositing particles are represented by hard-core extended objects; they are not allowed to overlap. Numerical Monte Carlo studies and analytical considerations are reported for 1D and 2D models of multilayer adsorption processes. Deposition without screening is investigated, in certain models the density may actually increase away from the substrate. Analytical studies of the late stage coverage behavior show the crossover from exponential time dependence for the lattice case to the power law behavior in the continuum deposition. 2D lattice and continuum simulations r…

Near Room-Temperature Memory Devices Based on Hybrid Spin-Crossover@SiO2Nanoparticles Coupled to Single-Layer Graphene Nanoelectrodes

2016

The charge transport properties of SCO [Fe(Htrz)2 (trz)](BF4 ) NPs covered with a silica shell placed in between single-layer graphene electrodes are reported. A reproducible thermal hysteresis loop in the conductance above room-temperature is evidenced. This bistability combined with the versatility of graphene represents a promising scenario for a variety of technological applications but also for future sophisticated fundamental studies.

Pulsed-laser switching in the bistability domain of a cooperative spin crossover compound: a critical study through calorimetry

2015

The photoswitching from the low spin (LS) to high spin (HS) state and the reverse process in the bistability domain of spin crossover (SCO) compounds is a promising function to be used in molecular electronic devices, and evidenced mainly through spectroscopy. The phenomenon, and in particular its mechanism, is however still under debate since some controversial experimental results have been reported. Here we present a calorimetric experimental study of the photoswitching of the [Fe(pyrazine)Pt(CN)4] SCO material by a nanosecond-pulsed green laser. Our results confirm that the single laser pulse of varying energies results in significant LS to HS transformations and show that calorimetry p…
