Bakalaura darba tēma: Ambulatorās veselības aprūpes pakalpojumu pieejamība nedzirdīgiem pacientiem. Eiropā veiktie pētījumi liecina, ka nedzirdīgo iedzīvotāju veselības vajadzības visā pasaulē joprojām nav apmierinātas. Prioritātes joprojām ir pasākumi, lai samazinātu nevienlīdzību un nodrošinātu nedzirdīgo personu piekļuvi profesionāliem veselības pakalpojumiem un ārstēšanai. Latvijā šādi pētījumi nav veikti, kas ļautu atklāt Latvijā dzīvojošo nedzirdīgo specifiskās vajadzības. Scattering of Co-Current Surface Waves on an Analogue Black Hole

We report on what is to our knowledge the first scattering experiment of surface waves on an accelerating transcritical flow, which in the analogue gravity context is described by an effective spacetime with a black-hole horizon. This spacetime has been probed by an incident co-current wave, which partially scatters into an outgoing countercurrent wave on each side of the horizon. The measured scattering amplitudes are compatible with the predictions of the hydrodynamical theory, where the kinematical description in terms of the effective metric is exact.

Economical evaluation of ecological benefits of the demand side management

Environmental pollution and over-exploitation of non-renewable sources to find energy are current topics for the modern world that is now at having to deal with several issues such as the greenhouse effect, acid rain and climate change. In this study, the economical estimate of the savings in carbon dioxide obtained with a careful management of electrical loads is presented. Four particular scenarios are designed as case studies: Italy, France, United Kingdom and Germany. A comparison is presented with a similar study, made in 2007, when green energies were not yet very developed.

Compact discs (CDs) and digital versatile discs (DVDs) are mainly made by polycarbonate disc, a thin layer of aluminum or silver, a thin layer of a coating and a thin layer of a label of paper or PET. The recycling of these discs is difficult due to the removal of these non-polymeric layers and to our best knowledge, no industrial plants have been resent for their recycling. Molecular analysis of lichen-associated bacterial communities.

The bacterial communities associated with 11 different lichen samples (belonging to eight different species) from different habitats were investigated. The culturable aerobic-heterotrophic fraction of the bacterial communities was isolated from nine lichen samples on protein-rich and sugar-rich/N-free media. Thirty-four bacterial isolates were purified and pooled into groups (phylotypes) by analysis of the ribosomal internal transcribed spacer polymorphism. Twenty five phylotypes were identified, each comprising between one and three isolates. We investigate the low-lying spectrum of Witten–Laplacians on forms of arbitrary degree in the semi-classical limit and uniformly in the space dimension. We show that under suitable assumptions implying that the phase function has a unique local minimum one obtains a number of clusters of discrete eigenvalues at the bottom of the spectrum. Moreover, we are able to count the number of eigenvalues in each cluster. We apply our results to certain sequences of Schrodinger operators having strictly convex potentials and show that some well-known results of semi-classical analysis hold also uniformly in the dimension.
