Interpolation and approximation in L2(γ)

AbstractAssume a standard Brownian motion W=(Wt)t∈[0,1], a Borel function f:R→R such that f(W1)∈L2, and the standard Gaussian measure γ on the real line. We characterize that f belongs to the Besov space B2,qθ(γ)≔(L2(γ),D1,2(γ))θ,q, obtained via the real interpolation method, by the behavior of aX(f(X1);τ)≔∥f(W1)-PXτf(W1)∥L2, where τ=(ti)i=0n is a deterministic time net and PXτ:L2→L2 the orthogonal projection onto a subspace of ‘discrete’ stochastic integrals x0+∑i=1nvi-1(Xti-Xti-1) with X being the Brownian motion or the geometric Brownian motion. By using Hermite polynomial expansions the problem is reduced to a deterministic one. The approximation numbers aX(f(X1);τ) can be used to descr…

Who is entitled for the recognition of public right in the urban domain? A perspective from the southern Italian context

2015

Who has the right of access to public space of the city and what are the limits to this access varies depending on the circumstances: the shift between the public and private sphere, the economic- institutional system, laws and planning tools. If many scholars focus on relational values of public/political spaces, the sphere of public facilities is a central issue. In Italy this issue is ruled by an ancient national law, aimed at ensuring minimum collective rights, the so-called urban standards as mandatory quantity of areas to locate within the municipal plans. Although many regions of Northern Italy have satisfied and raised this standard, the southern areas remain in a situation of sever…

2012

Researchers at the University of Palermo, in collaboration with the CNR ITABC for the project PRIN 2008, they have made a preliminary study for an archaeological GIS divided into areas I-XI of Sabratha to gather information on the monuments already studied, or under study, and to promote analysis regarding the reuse of space in the Regiones III-V, after the destruction attributed to the earthquake on 21th of July 365. We present the results of the studies on the Roman Baths of the Regio V and on the Episcopal Complex. The roman baths in the Regio V, insula 1 was born in the second century, with the planning of the Theatre District. Stratigraphic excavations conducted under the mosaics had p…

Scuole in transizione. Esperienze e progetti di nuovi spazi educativi e di comunità

2022

Schools take into account numerous challenges associated with the theme of educational and ecological transition and are confronted with a vast and often obsolete heritage in which school buildings present safety and maintenance conditions that require urgent interventions. In recent years, a number of important initiatives have been launched to accelerate the process of architectural regeneration of the country's schools with the investment of substantial economic resources aimed at upgrading buildings and the interior and exterior spaces of schools. The need for a different school also emerges from new pedagogical methods that go beyond the traditional concept of the classroom and lead to…

A bilinear version of Orlicz–Pettis theorem

2008

Abstract Given three Banach spaces X, Y and Z and a bounded bilinear map B : X × Y → Z , a sequence x = ( x n ) n ⊆ X is called B -absolutely summable if ∑ n = 1 ∞ ‖ B ( x n , y ) ‖ Z is finite for any y ∈ Y . Connections of this space with l weak 1 ( X ) are presented. A sequence x = ( x n ) n ⊆ X is called B -unconditionally summable if ∑ n = 1 ∞ | 〈 B ( x n , y ) , z ∗ 〉 | is finite for any y ∈ Y and z ∗ ∈ Z ∗ and for any M ⊆ N there exists x M ∈ X for which ∑ n ∈ M 〈 B ( x n , y ) , z ∗ 〉 = 〈 B ( x M , y ) , z ∗ 〉 for all y ∈ Y and z ∗ ∈ Z ∗ . A bilinear version of Orlicz–Pettis theorem is given in this setting and some applications are presented.

A Geometric Algebra Based Distributional Model to Encode Sentences Semantics

2013

Word space models are used to encode the semantics of natural language elements by means of high dimensional vectors [23]. Latent Semantic Analysis (LSA) methodology [15] is well known and widely used for its generalization properties. Despite of its good performance in several applications, the model induced by LSA ignores dynamic changes in sentences meaning that depend on the order of the words, because it is based on a bag of words analysis. In this chapter we present a technique that exploits LSA-based semantic spaces and geometric algebra in order to obtain a sub-symbolic encoding of sentences taking into account the words sequence in the sentence. © 2014 Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidel…

Nuove qualità degli spazi ospedalieri

2008

The social transformations and the technological progress in sanitary field have considerably modified the hospital conception. The hospital becomes space in which the individual is revalued and placed at the centre of the design process. From a neutral envelope, aseptic and marginalizing, the hospital space therefore becomes relationship and meeting space. Factors not easily valuable contribute to defining the quality of the space in terms of humanization. An essential role assumes the hospital environment, which should not only be complied with the treatment, but must directly involve the patient, integrating him into the hospital life. The attention towards the "affective" charge of user…
