The Red Palm Weevil (RPW), Rhynchophorus ferrugineus Olivier, accidentally introduced in the European countries facing the Mediterranean basin, is becoming the most serious pest for ornamental palms in the urban environment. In our work we tested electroantennogram (EAG) and behavioural responses of RPW adults to five selected synthetic palm esters: ethyl propionate, ethyl butyrate, ethyl isobutyrate, ethyl lactate and ethyl acetate. EAG bioassays showed higher sensitivity of female antennae compared to male antennae for test compounds. Differences were also recorded in the EAG responses using different esters and doses. Mixtures of lecithin with polymerizable derivatives of cholesterol. A monolayer film balance study.

One of the best investigated binary lipid mixtures is the lecithin-cholesterol system. We show here that it is possible to modify the cholesterol in such a way that it can be polymerized without changing its behaviour in mixtures with lecithin. The polymerizable derivatives exhibit a very similar phase diagram in the mixture with dipalmitoyl-phosphatidylcholine as the cholesterol itself. This is demonstrated by filmbalance measurements.

Identification by GC-FID and GC-MS of amino acids, fatty and bile acids in binding media used in works of art.

GC-FID was used as single methodology for the identification and differentiation of proteins, lipids and ox bile from binders used in artistic paintings. The samples were hydrolyzed by HCl. Subsequently, the simultaneous formation of volatile derivatives of the amino, fatty and bile acids with ethyl chloroformate was performed quickly and safely in an aqueous medium. The derivatives were separated by capillary GC and characterized by GC-MS. The ageing of drying oils was studied, identifying pelargonic acid among other degradation products. Przeprowadzono badania biomonitoringowe trzech zbiorników retencyjnych położonych na terenie województwa opolskiego (południowa Polska): Zbiornika Turawa, Zbiornika Nysa i Zbiornika Otmuchów. W glonach słodkowodnych Spirogyra sp. i morskich Palmaria palmata (Linnaeus) Weber & Mohr, eksponowanych w badanych wodach, oznaczono metodą absorpcyjnej spektrometrii atomowej (AAS) przyrosty stężeń: Mn, Fe, Cu, Zn, Cd i Pb. Kämmensyrjävaimennus (engl. palm-mute) on eräs musiikkikappaleen muotoa artikuloiva tekijä, sillä se saa aikaan muutoksia rytmiikassa, harmoniassa ja sointivärissä. Tästä huolimatta sen huomioiminen populaarimusiikintutkimuksessa on ollut varsin vähäistä. Käyn tutkimuksessani läpi kämmensyrjävaimennuksen eri ilmenemismuotoja ja niiden suhdetta heavy metal -musiikin muotokäsitykseen. Tutkimukseni tulokset esitän kämmensyrjävaimennuksen ja hypermetriikkaan ja modulaariseen strukturointiin perustuvan muotokäsityksen teoreettisen taustan, keräämäni aineiston ja musiikkianalyyttisten menetelmien avulla. La repercussió de l'obra de Lorenzo Palmireno en la filologia catalana

It is always useful to set bounds to a semantic field when attempting to discuss lexical transmission. Once our attention is phocused on the names of birds collected by Palmireno in his Vocabulario del Humanista (1569), the influence of Belon, Gesner and specially of Joan B. Agnes becomes evident. On the other hand, it is also evident that the Catalan lexicographer Pere Torra (17th century) used in a rather indiscriminate manner Palmireno's work while assimilating in his Dictionnary words which on the base of their formal and / or their semantic structure can not be considered as Catalan. Some of these words have been nevertheless accepted by 20th century lexicographers.

Glycerosomes were formulated using 1,2-dimyristoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphatidycholine (DMPC), diclofenac sodium salt and 10, 20 or 30% glycerol in the water phase, while corresponding liposomes were prepared with the same amount of DMPC and diclofenac, without glycerol. The aim of the present work was to evaluate the effect of the used phospholipid on vesicle features and ability to favour diclofenac skin deposition by comparing these results with those found in previous works performed using hydrogenated soy phosphatidylcholine (P90H) and dipalmitoylphosphatidylcholine (DPPC).
