Microbial community analysis, influence of reactor hybridation and effect of the proportion of glycol ethers/ethanol mixtures in EGSB reactors

2018

2008

The case summaries sent to the central council of the Inquisition in Madrid by the tribunal in Barcelona show that a number of Protestant soldiers were in Spanish service in the second half of the seventeenth century. These soldiers were not persecuted by the Holy Office, but denounced themselves voluntarily in order to be allowed to convert to Catholicism. The majority of them were from German-speaking areas, and many came from within the Holy Roman Empire. The letters exchanged between Madrid and Barcelona show that this reflected a deliberate policy by the Inquisition of not trying soldiers in Spanish service, nor prisoners of war or deserters from the French army during this period.

Effects on accounting legislation by an EU-wide implementation of the IFRS for SMEs – the case of Germany

2020

Harmonisation of companies’ financial reporting obligations is essential to economic decision-making in an international business environment. The degree of harmonisation for small and medium-sized entities (SMEs) is still relatively low but the acceptance for the IFRS for SMEs is increasing in recent years. Currently, the standard is being revised and its standard-setting body is awaiting comments from its stakeholders. While the European Union is reluctant to adopt the IFRS for SMEs, the success of its internal harmonisation attempts by the EU Accounting Directive is doubtful and often criticised by the Directive’s stakeholders and researchers. The excessive number of options led to 27 di…

A uniform hieroglyphic : Further shades of meaning in Go Down, Moses.

1999

This essay offers a new interpretation of the role of Rider, the protagonist of “Pantaloon in Black”, within the context of Faulkner’s novel, Go Down, Moses. Although this character seems to be one of the least important in the book, he may really provide a pattem for Faulkner’s larger designs. Rider’s obsesgion with bis dead wife, Niannie, the appearance of her ghost, and bis struggle, against bis own vitality, to die and rejoin her can be read as a parallel to Isaac Mc Caslin’s initiation into a dead Indian culture based on spiritual rather than materialistic values, and as a foreshadowing of Ike’s eventual renunciation of his birthright, the McCaslin plantation. The final implication is …
