Testing WWγ vertex in radiative muon decay

2019

Large numbers of muons will be produced at facilities developed to probe the lepton-flavor-violating process μ→eγ. We show that by constructing a suitable asymmetry, radiative muon decay μ→eγνμν̄e can also be used to test the WWγ vertex at such facilities. The process has two missing neutrinos in the final state, and upon integrating their momenta the partial differential decay rate shows no radiation-amplitude zero. However, we establish that an easily separable part of the normalized differential decay rate that is odd under the exchange of photon and electron energies does have a zero in the case of the standard model (SM). This new type of zero has hitherto not been studied in the liter…

Time-Independent Canonical Perturbation Theory

2001

First we consider the perturbation calculation only to first order, limiting ourselves to only one degree of freedom. Furthermore, the system is to be conservative, ∂ H∕∂ t = 0, and periodic in both the unperturbed and perturbed case. In addition to periodicity, we shall require the Hamilton–Jacobi equation to be separable for the unperturbed situation. The unperturbed problem H0(J0) which is described by the action-angle variables J0 and w0 will be assumed to be solved. Thus we have, for the unperturbed frequency: $$\displaystyle{ \nu _{0} = \frac{\partial H_{0}} {\partial J_{0}} }$$ (10.1) and $$\displaystyle{ w_{0} =\nu _{0}t +\beta _{0}\;. }$$ (10.2) Then the new Hamiltonian reads, up t…

Relations among Gauge and Pettis integrals for cwk(X)-valued multifunctions

2019

The aim of this paper is to study relationships among "gauge integrals" (Henstock, Mc Shane, Birkhoff) and Pettis integral of multifunctions whose values are weakly compact and convex subsets of a general Banach space, not necessarily separable. For this purpose we prove the existence of variationally Henstock integrable selections for variationally Henstock integrable multifunctions. Using this and other known results concerning the existence of selections integrable in the same sense as the corresponding multifunctions, we obtain three decomposition theorems. As applications of such decompositions, we deduce characterizations of Henstock and ${\mathcal H}$ integrable multifunctions, toget…

Joint second-order parameter estimation for spatio-temporal log-Gaussian Cox processes

2018

We propose a new fitting method to estimate the set of second-order parameters for the class of homogeneous spatio-temporal log-Gaussian Cox point processes. With simulations, we show that the proposed minimum contrast procedure, based on the spatio-temporal pair correlation function, provides reliable estimates and we compare the results with the current available methods. Moreover, the proposed method can be used in the case of both separable and non-separable parametric specifications of the correlation function of the underlying Gaussian Random Field. We describe earthquake sequences comparing several Cox model specifications.

N-body simulations with generic non-Gaussian initial conditions I: Power Spectrum and halo mass function

2010

We address the issue of setting up generic non-Gaussian initial conditions for N-body simulations. We consider inflationary-motivated primordial non-Gaussianity where the perturbations in the Bardeen potential are given by a dominant Gaussian part plus a non-Gaussian part specified by its bispectrum. The approach we explore here is suitable for any bispectrum, i.e. it does not have to be of the so-called separable or factorizable form. The procedure of generating a non-Gaussian field with a given bispectrum (and a given power spectrum for the Gaussian component) is not univocal, and care must be taken so that higher-order corrections do not leave a too large signature on the power spectrum.…

Synthesis of ZnO–Ag2CO3–Fe3O4@rGO core–shell structure: magnetically separable photocatalyst for degradation of MB using the Box–Behnken design

2020

In this work, a simple microwave method was utilized to prepare ZnO sheet linked with Fe3O4@rGO core–shell and of Ag2CO3 through formation of the quadri-photocatalytic with high activity. The microstructure, morphology, spectroscopic, and magnetic characteristics of the prepared samples were assessed using XRD, SEM, PL, TEM, FT-IR, DLS, and VSM analysis. The photocatalytic activity of the material was evaluated for photodegradation of methylene blue dye under the UV and visible light with home-made photoreactor. The response surface method in a Box–Behnken design was utilized to design the experiments. The parameters affecting the efficiency of the degradation including, pH (5–9), photocata…

Comment on `Critical scalar field collapse in AdS$_3$: an analytical approach'

2014

We comment on the derivation of an analytical solution presented in arXiv:1309.1629, show that it belongs to a family of separable solutions previously constructed in arXiv:gr-qc/0109002, and question its relevance to critical collapse.

Character degrees and local subgroups of 𝜋-separable groups

1998

Let G G be a finite { p , q } \{p,q \} -solvable group for different primes p p and q q . Let P ∈ Syl p ( G ) P \in \text {Syl}_{p}(G) and Q ∈ Syl q ( G ) Q \in \text {Syl}_{q}(G) be such that P Q = Q P PQ=QP . We prove that every χ ∈ Irr ( G ) \chi \in \text {Irr}(G) of p ′ p^{\prime } -degree has q ′ q^{\prime } -degree if and only if N G ( P ) ⊆ N G ( Q ) \mathbf {N}_{G}(P) \subseteq \mathbf {N}_{G}(Q) and C Q ′ ( P ) = 1 \mathbf {C}_{Q^{\prime }}(P)=1 .
