In the Third book of his Bibliotheca, Diodorus Siculus includes an account of the Egyptian gold mines and describes the terrible living conditions of the slaves who are exploited to extract the metal. In this regard, Diodorus’ source is the historian Agatharchides of Cnidus, whose account is handed down by the Byzantine writer Photius. The comparison between the two texts allows scholars to highlight the different historical perspective of Diodorus, which privileges a worldview dominated by philanthropy and compassion for the most peripheral humanity. The attention of the writer was attracted by the person of Konrad Mientus, who impressed with his passion of collecting all souvenirs, „props”, which passion became concrete in the form of an extremely valued and constantly visited regional chamber. A passion that was vivid from childhood was emphasized, and many examples of the Silesian regional chamber were referred to. Museum exhibits show the Opole region as a „smali homeland” of Poles and Germans - with all the complexity of the fate of its community, as well as the specificity of the Silesian culture, visible especially in tradition, dia- lect, customs and folk customs.

A strong inclination to engage in a sport activity may provoke intrapersonal conflict. Yet, few studies have explicitly investigated such activity-related conflict in light of self-regulation of activity engagement. In the present research, we explored intrapersonal conflict measured as discrepant self-guides in relation to obsessive passion, harmonious passion, and exercise dependence. The aim of the study was testing the differential effectiveness of two interventions to improve Majorcan primary care professionals' quality of life: Mindful-Based Stress Reduction Training (MBSRT) and Compassion Cultivation Training (CCT). 50 professionals participated in the study; 81% were women.
