Fostering Positive Changes in Health and Social Relationships in Children

Several studies have demonstrated that altruism and gratitude may confer beneficial effects on psychophysical wellbeing. The present chapter describes how positive changes in health and social relationships can be fostered in 6- to 9-year-old children when participating in positive interventions. The findings show that the experience of working with others to attain shared goals and focusing on gratefulness positively modulated altruism and social interactions among peers, highlighting the great behavioural plasticity of children. Jean-Jacques Rousseau and Mary Wollstonecraft on the imagination

The article compares Rousseau’s and Wollstonecraft’s views on the imagination. It is argued that though Wollstonecraft was evidently influenced by Rousseau, there are significant differences between their views. These differences are grounded in their different views on the faculty of reason and its relation to the passions. Whereas Rousseau characterizes reason as a derivative faculty, grounded in the more primary faculty of perfectibility, Wollstonecraft perceives reason as the faculty defining human nature. Pētījuma mērķis ir izpētīt saistības starp līdzjūtību pret sevi un emociju regulēšanas stratēģiju izvēli. Pētījumā tika aptaujāti 81 respondents vecumā no 18 līdz 70 gadiem, kuri aizpildīja divas sekojošas aptaujas: Iejūtības pret sevi skalu (Self-Compassion Scale (SCS), Neff, 2003), kuru Latvijā adaptējusi Liliāna Tamsone, 2015. gadā un Emociju regulācijas aptauju (Emotion Regulation Questionnaire, Gross & John, 2003), kuras sākotnējo veikusi Marija Morozova, 2011. gadā, un uzlabojumu veicis Emīls Ūdris un Edmunds Vanags 2017. gadā, kā arī demogrāfisko datu anketu. Through a close reading of the two definitions of evil in the Introduction to Responses to Thalassios , this article points out a circular, cognitive-affective-somatic, genetic mechanism that St. Maximos the Confessor considers responsible for the initiation and transmission of the fallness as a human condition and the specific manifestation of it in the form of passions.
