The effect of tether groups on the spin states of iron(ii)/bis[2,6-di(pyrazol-1-yl)pyridine] complexes

2021

The synthesis of six 2,6-di(pyrazol-1-yl)pyridine derivatives bearing dithiolane or carboxylic acid tether groups is described: [2,6-di(pyrazol-1-yl)pyrid-4-yl]methyl (R)-lipoate (L1), 2-[(2,6-di(pyrazol-1-yl)pyridine)-4-carboxamido]ethyl (R)-lipoate (L2), 2-[(2,6-di(pyrazol-1-yl)pyridine)-4-carboxy]ethyl (R)-lipoate (L3), N-([2,6-di(pyrazol-1-yl)pyrid-4-ylsulfanyl]-2-aminoethyl (R)-lipoamide (L4), 2-[(2,6-di(pyrazol-1-yl)pyridine)-4-carboxamido]acetic acid (L5) and 2-[(2,6-di(pyrazol-1-yl)pyridine)-4-carboxamido]propionic acid (L6). The iron(ii) perchlorate complexes of all the new ligands exhibit gradual thermal spin-crossover (SCO) in the solid state above room temperature, except L4 who…

Cu2+-cyclam complex functionalised with naphthylmethyl fluorescent signalling subunits as fluorescent chemosensors for sulfate in aqueous environment.

2000

Abstract The fluorescent behaviour of the polyazacycloalkane containing naphthyl groups 1,4,8,11-tetrakis(naphthylmethyl)-1,4,8,11-tetraazacyclotetradecane (L 1 ) and its Cu 2+ complex in the presence of anions are compared in aqueous environment (THF:water 70:30 v/v, 0.1 mol dm −3 tetrabutylammonium perchlorate, 25°C). The emission fluorescent intensity of the L 1 –Cu 2+ system is selectively enhanced in the presence of sulfate at acid pH.

Homo- and heterobinuclear Cu2+ and Zn2+ complexes of abiotic cyclic hexaazapyridinocyclophanes as SOD mimics

2013

The new receptor 3,7,11,15,19,23-hexaaza-1(2,6)-pyridinacyclotetracosaphane (L1) containing a complete sequence of propylenic chains has been synthesised. The acid–base behaviour and Cu2+ and Zn2+ coordination have been analysed by potentiometric measurements in 0.15 M NaClO4 for L1 and for the related compounds 3,7,11,14,18,22-hexaaza-1(2,6)-pyridinacyclotricosaphane (L2), 3,7,10,13,16,20-hexaaza-1(2,6)-pyridinacycloheneicosaphane (L3) and 3,7,10,12,15,19-hexaaza-1(2,6)-pyridinacycloicosaphane (L4). The crystal structure of [(CuH4L2)(H2O)(ClO4)](ClO4)5·3H2O shows an interesting combination of a metal ion coordinated by the pyridine nitrogen atom and the adjacent amine groups of the chain, …

Metals and Organochlorine Compounds in Fish from Latvian Lakes

1998

Organochlorines and metals have high toxicity and worldwide distribution in the aquatic environment. They are known to accumulate in sediments. In mollusks and fishes, they are bioconcentrated, even when released in minute quantities into the environment. This is important, as these chemicals have an adverse impact on species diversity, and accumulate in humans when seafood is consumed (Jaffar et al. 1988; Ruiter 1995). The nature and extent of accumulation and impact of persistent xenobiotics in water bodies depend on their sources; i.e. whether they are from industry, agricultural activities, transboundary transport with air masses (Sharif et al. 1993), geochemically determined elevated c…

Discriminating octahedral transition metal ions: highly selective tripodal tris-(2,2′-bipyridine) functionalized piperazine cyclophane receptor for C…

2011

New tripodal transition metal ion receptors, tris(5-ethoxycarbonyl-2,2'-bipyridine) and tris(5-carboxylate-2,2'-bipyridine) substituted 27-membered trimeric piperazine cyclophanes 5 and 7 as well as tetra(5-ethoxycarbonyl-2,2'-bipyridine) substituted 36-membered tetrameric piperazine cyclophane 6, have been prepared and their transition metal ion complexing properties studied in solution by UV-vis spectroscopy and in the solid state by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The crystal structures of [H(3)5(3+)·Fe(2+)]·4(ClO(4)(-))·CF(3)COO(-) (V), [H(3)7(2+)·Fe(2+)]·2(SO(4)(2-)) (VII) and the reference complex [tris(5,5'-bis(ethoxycarbonyl)-2,2'-bipyridine)Fe(II) perchlorate] (I) showed that the…

Interactions of lysozyme with hydrophilic and hydrophobic polymethacrylate stationary phases in reversed phase chromatography (RPC)

1994

Two silicas, one with a mean pore diameter of 30 nm and the other non-porous, were coated with polymethacrylates of increasing hydrophobicity in the sequence: poly-2-hydroxyethylmethacrylate (P2HEMA)1 polyethylmethacrylate (PEMA) and poly-n-octylmethacrylate (POMA). Association constants, Kass, between lysozyme and the coated silicas were determined by means of frontal analysis, and the apparent heats of adsorption, delta Happ, by means of microcalorimetry. Using Kass and delta Happ the changes in the apparent free energy, delta Gapp, and in the apparent entropy, delta Sapp, were calculated at a concentration of lysozyme < 10 mumol/l. The association between the lysozyme and the coated sili…

Initiatoren für die polymerisation des trioxane. 20. Mitt. über polyoxymethylene1

1963

Allochthony, fatty acid and mercury trends in muscle of Eurasian perch (Perca fluviatilis) along boreal environmental gradients

2022

Environmental change, including joint effects of increasing dissolved organic carbon (DOC) and total phosphorus (TP) in boreal northern lakes could potentially affects food web energy sources and the biochemical composition of organisms. These environmental stressors are enhanced by anthropogenic land-use and can decrease the quality of polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) in seston and zooplankton, and therefore, possibly cascading up to fish. In contrast, the content of mercury in fish increases with lake browning potentially amplified by intensive forestry practises. However, there is little evidence on how these environmental stressors simultaneously impact beneficial omega-3 fatty acid …
