Vapor-Deposited Perovskites: The Route to High-Performance Solar Cell Production?

2017

Summary High-quality semiconducting perovskites can be easily synthesized through several methods. The ease of fabrication has favored the adoption of lab-scale solution-processing techniques, which have yielded the highest performing devices. Most of these processes, however, are not directly applicable to larger scale and volume preparations, hindering the consolidation and market entry of this technology. Vapor-based methods, a mature technology widely adopted in the coating and semiconductor industry, could change this trend. Their application to perovskite solar cells includes a large amount of fabrication approaches, offering versatility in the employed materials as well as in the cha…

Optical Amplification in Hollow-Core Negative-Curvature Fibers Doped with Perovskite CsPbBr3 Nanocrystals

2019

| openaire: EC/H2020/820423/EU//S2QUIP We report a hollow-core negative-curvature fiber (HC-NCF) optical signal amplifier fabricated by the filling of the air microchannels of the fiber with all-inorganic CsPbBr3 perovskite nanocrystals (PNCs). The optimum fabrication conditions were found to enhance the optical gain, up to +3 dB in the best device. Experimental results were approximately reproduced by a gain assisted mechanism based on the nonlinear optical properties of the PNCs, indicating that signal regeneration can be achieved under low pump powers, much below the threshold of stimulated emission. The results can pave the road of new functionalities of the HC-NCF with PNCs, such as op…

Hyperspectral imaging of asteroids using an FPI-based sensor

2021

The compositions of asteroids are of interest for the planetary sciences, mining, and planetary defense. The main method for evaluating these compositions is reflectance spectroscopy. Spectroscopic measurements performed from Earth can not resolve how different materials are distributed on the asteroids, making flyby-- and rendezvous missions necessary for obtaining detailed information. Using the CubeSat platform could reduce the costs of these missions, but it also sets constraints on the payload mass and volume. One small and light instrument capable of producing spatially resolved spectral data is a hyperspectral imager based on the Fabry-Perot interferometer. We propose a method of cal…

Monitoring the Growth of a Microbubble Generated Photothermally onto an Optical Fiber by Means Fabry-Perot Interferometry.

2021

In the present paper, we show the experimental measurement of the growth of a microbubble created on the tip of a single mode optical fiber, in which zinc nanoparticles were photodeposited on its core by using a single laser source to carry out both the generation of the microbubble by photothermal effect and the monitoring of the microbubble diameter. The photodeposition technique, as well as the formation of the microbubble, was carried out by using a single-mode pigtailed laser diode with emission at a wavelength of 658 nm. The microbubble’s growth was analyzed in the time domain by the analysis of the Fabry–Perot cavity, whose diameter was calculated with the number of interference frin…

The cyclopentenone-type prostaglandin 15-deoxy-delta12,14-prostaglandin J2 inhibits CD95 ligand gene expression in T lymphocytes: interference with p…

2003

Abstract 15-Deoxy-Δ12,14-PGJ2 (15d-PGJ2) is a cyclopentenone-type PG endowed with anti-inflammatory properties and produced by different cells, including those of the immune system. 15d-PGJ2 is a natural ligand of the peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor (PPAR)-γ nuclear receptor, but relevant PPARγ-independent actions mediated by this prostanoid have been described. Fas (APO-1/CD95) and its ligand (Fas-L) are cell surface proteins whose interaction activates apoptosis of Fas-expressing targets. In T cells, the Fas-Fas-L system regulates activation-induced cell death and has been implicated in diseases in which lymphocyte homeostasis is compromised. Moreover, several studies have desc…

Water Depollution by Advanced Oxidation Technologies

2020

This chapter deals with water treatments by advanced oxidation processes (AOPs) based on chemical and photochemical reactions. The most used processes are described, and for each of them, the main reaction mechanisms, principles, advantages, drawbacks, performances and formation of by-products, coupled with technologies and their applications to waters and wastewater depollution, have been analysed, supporting the main results of studies published in the pertinent literature.

Oxidative stress induces the expression of the major histocompatibility complex in murine tumor cells.

2001

The effect of t-butyl hydroperoxide (t-BOOH) on the induction of the Major Histocompatibility Complex (MHC) class I genes has been studied in two cell clones (B9 and G2) of the methylcholanthrene-induced murine fibrosarcoma GR9. These two clones were selected based on their different biological and biochemical behavior specially related to their tumor induction capability when injected into a BALB/c mouse. t-BOOH (0.125 mM) induced the expression of H-2 molecules in both cell clones. In B9 cell clone, in which MHC basal expression is very low or absent, t-BOOH significantly induced H-2Kd, H-2Dd and H-2Ld molecules. In G2 cell clone the expression of MHC class I genes was also enhanced by th…

The graded identities of upper triangular matrices of size two

2002

AbstractLet UT2 be the algebra of 2×2 upper triangular matrices over a field F. We first classify all possible gradings on UT2 by a group G. It turns out that, up to isomorphism, there is only one non-trivial grading and we study all the graded polynomial identities for such algebra. In case F is of characteristic zero we give a complete description of the space of multilinear graded identities in the language of Young diagrams through the representation theory of the hyperoctahedral group. We finally establish a result concerning the rate of growth of the identities for such algebra by proving that its sequence of graded codimensions has almost polynomial growth.
