Attitudes towards insulin initiation in type 2 diabetes patients among healthcare providers: A survey research

Aims: To describe the views of healthcare providers about starting insulin in patients with type 2 diabetes and to determine the specific factors that contribute to delay insulin initiation. Methods: Two-phases observational descriptive study. In the quantitative phase we conducted a cross-sectional survey of a sample of 380 healthcare professionals (general practitioners (GPs), endocrinologists, internists and nurses). In the qualitative phase, a discussion group reviewed the results of the survey to propose solutions. Experiences with the use of complementary and alternative medicine in nursing homes: A focus group study.

Abstract Introduction The use of complementary and alternative medicine is increasing outside the Norwegian public health service. The purpose of this study was to gain insight into the experiences of nurses and auxiliary nurses with the use of CAM in care for nursing home residents. Method Focus group interviews with a total of thirteen nurses and auxiliary nurses from three nursing homes were conducted. Data were analyzed using systematic text condensation. Results Participants had experiences from aromatherapy, plant medicine, music therapy and pet therapy. Development and validation of the Short Professional Quality of Life Scale based on versions IV and V of the Professional Quality of Life Scale

Background This research presents a short version of the Professional Quality of Life (ProQOL) scale, one of the most frequently used questionnaires in the arena of applied healthcare investigation. It measures burnout (BO), compassion fatigue (CF), and compassion satisfaction (CS). Methods A 9-item version of the ProQOL was developed. In Study 1, this short version, which used items from version IV of the ProQOL, was administered to 817 palliative care professionals from Spain, Argentina, and Brazil. Work–family conflict and enrichment from the perspective of psychosocial resources: Comparing Finnish healthcare workers by working schedules

Abstract We examined work–family conflict (WFC) and work–family enrichment (WFE) by comparing Finnish nurses, working dayshifts (non-shiftworkers, n = 874) and non-dayshifts. The non-dayshift employees worked either two different dayshifts (2-shiftworkers, n = 490) or three different shifts including nightshifts (3-shiftworkers, n = 270).
