Stylistic Fronting is a phenomenon that has been intensively studied with respect to the symmetric Germanic Verb Second languages: Old/Modern Icelandic, Old/Modern Faeroese but also Middle English and Modern Yiddish. Standardly Stylistic Fronting is seen as an operation that moves an element in front of the finite verb in order to rescue the verb second constraint, in sentences that contain a subject gap. Resum: Aquest article és un estudi del model de llengua de quatre traduccions del cant 6è de l’Odissea al català. Les quatre traduccions estudiades són les de Carles Riba publicades en 1919 i 1948, la traducció de Joan Aymerich de 1997 i la de Joan F. Mira de 2011. L’estudi es realitza amb instruments de la lingüística de corpus i des d’una perspectiva descriptiva. Els instruments de la lingüística de corpus ens serveixen per a delimitar aspectes traductològics relacionats amb la simplificació, l’explicitació, la normalització o la interferència i concretats en l’ús dels lemes nocionals en les quatre traduccions. The article analizes the aesthetics of Book of Manuel (Julio Cortazar, 1973) as a response to the debates on the rol of revolutionary intelli- gentsia wich took place in the late sixties. The author focuses on the way the novel mixed the neo-avantgardist poetics with the theory of the 'new man' by Guevara and with some emerging discourses such as testimony.

Dystopian fiction in English: a corpus-driven analysis of esteem in Veronica Roth’s "Divergent" trilogy

In light of the recent wave of popularity of dystopian fiction for young adults, and in particular of Veronica Roth’s trilogy Divergent, research has begun to focus on this subgenre. However, the focus tends to be on educational and gender approaches to the novels, while the psychological aspects of the characters have been largely ignored. My study focuses on the representation of esteem and self-esteem in the trilogy through an analysis based on annotation. The results shed light on the factors that affect the protagonist’s role and self-representation.
