“Čut’ živye, v noč’ osennjuju / My s ochoty vozvraščaemsja…” Secondary predicate in Nekrasov’s poetic texts

The main aim of the article is to examine the grammatical and stylistic functions of the predicative attribute in the poetic work of Nekrasov. The study contributes to the general ‘grammar of poetry’, which has been proposed and developed by Roman Jakobson. The study shows that Nekrasov often used the predicative attribute and it constitutes one of the specific features of his style. Grammatically extended adjectival, participial and adverbial phrases, frequent in Nekrasov’s poetry, cause additional predication, which makes it possible to expand the narrative. La actividad utiliza la crisis económica como pretexto para que los estudiantes puedan expresar queja y hartazgo de forma avanzada. Además, la actividad final es que los estudiantes sepan hacer propuestas para mejorar la situación actual en España y en sus respectivos países. Mediante vídeos, fotografías, titulares de periódico e incluso poemas los aprendientes conocerán las causas de la crisis económica así como la forma que tienen los españoles de afrontar la crisis. Familiarizaremos al estudiante con la situación real en la que se encuentran millones de españoles y les proporcionaremos las herramientas necesarias para que puedan moverse en esta situación actual.

Everyday aesthetics on staycation as a pathway to restoration

This multidisciplinary study enforces a suggested link between everyday aesthetic experiences and restoration. The studied phenomenon is staycation, a short-term holiday spent at home or at one’s home region, to identify how people use a (culturally) familiar environment for everyday aesthetic enjoyment and how that influences restoration. This focus minimises the potential effect of long-distance travel, novelty and escapism to restoration. The growing dominance of English as an international language of scientific communication in the world has been widely acknowledged. However, its effect in the relevant discourse community in Latvia is still to be explored. A case study was undertaken to improve upon the current understanding of the choice of scientific publishing language in Latvia and explore historical factors underpinning the current predominance of English as the lingua franca of the scientific community. Dynamic assessment of word derivational knowledge: Tracing the development of a learner

The present paper reports on a case study that explored the applicability of dynamic assessment (DA) for promoting learners’ word derivational knowledge in English as a second or a foreign language (L2). One learner’s performance on tasks assessing his word derivational knowledge was measured four times. The first two measurements were conducted before and after three weekly human-mediated DA sessions and the last two, which took place a year and a half later, before and after three weekly computerised DA sessions. El modelo que presentamos está relacionado con la literatura comparada y pretende dotar al alumno de unas herramientas sobre el significado de distintos objetos, de tal forma sea capaz de reconocerlos en los cuadros, aplicarlos y por consiguiente poder construir unas explicaciones que le ayuden a entender la obra.
