Feasibility of photoelectron sources with sharp lines of stable energy between 20 and 80 keV.

Photo-absorption of γ-rays in thin Al, Co, Ti, and Mo convertors was examined with the aim to produce quasi monoenergetic photoelectrons having an energy spread of 0.5-4.7eV about mean kinetic energies at discrete values between 18632 and 80321eV. The photoelectron rates were estimated for commercial photon sources of (241)Am, (119m)Sn, (125m)Te and (109)Cd with activities of 0.55-3.7GBq. Photoelectrons ejected by (241)Am γ- and X-rays from Co convertors were measured with two different electron spectrometers and obtained energy spectra were compared with Monte Carlo predictions.

Radiation controlled energy of photoelectrons produced by two-color short pulses.

We report on numerical results of energy spectra of photoelectrons emitted by irradiating a hydrogen atom with the superposition of two pulses. The spectra have been obtained by numerical integration of the time dependent Schr¨odinger equation. The highest frequency component of the pulse has been assumed to have low intensity and such a frequency that a single photon may ionize the atom. Its duration has been assumed to lie in the range of subfemtoseconds. The lowest frequency component that redistribute the energy of the ionized electrons has an higher intensity and duration of few femtoseconds. The RICH counter in the CERN hyperon beam experiment

Abstract The hyperon beam experiment WA89 at the CERN-SPS uses a ring imaging Cherenkov counter (RICH) for identification of secondaries from ∑ − N reactions. Cherenkov photons are generated in a 5 m long radiator volume filled with nitrogen at atmospheric pressure and detected in drift chambers. The drift chambers cover an active surface of 1.6 × 0.75 m 2 , with a maximum drift path of 41 cm. Photoelectrons are counted on 1280 wires with a pitch of 2.54 mm, equipped with multihit TDCs. The counting gas is ethane saturated with TMAE at 30°C. The counter was operated in two beam periods in 1990 and 1991. Spin Polarimetry and Magnetic Dichroism on a Buried Magnetic Layer Using Hard X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy

The spin-resolved electronic structure of buried magnetic layers is studied by hard X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (HAXPES) using a spin polarimeter in combination with a high-energy hemispherical electron analyzer at the high-brilliance BL47XU beamline (SPring-8, Japan). Spin-resolved photoelectron spectra are analyzed in comparison with the results of magnetic linear and circular dichroism in photoelectron emission in the case of buried Co2FeAl0.5Si0.5 layers. Multiphoton photoemission electron microscopy using femtosecond laser radiation

Abstract The interaction of intense, pulsed laser radiation with surfaces results in non-linear optical effects that are responsible for emission of electrons even if the photon energies are below the work function. In the present study, photoelectrons have been excited by means of femtosecond laser pulses from a frequency doubled Ti:sapphire laser with a photon energy of 3.1 eV. The spatial distribution of the photo emitted electrons was imaged using a photoemission electron microscope. Transition probabilities of PrII-lines emitted from a ferroelectric plasma source

Abstract An argon-praseodymium plasma was generated under atmospheric pressure between a ceramic ferroelectric plate and a praseodymium plate. The system of plates was connected to an acoustic frequency supply. The plasma radiation was analyzed in the spectral range from 2000 to 7000 A by using a grating spectrograph with a linear dispersion near 1 mm/A, adopted to photoelectric measurements. The emission spectrum of praseodymium was recorded and the intensities of a few hundred lines were measured. Electron Angular Distribution in Laser-Assisted X-ray Photoeffect

1981

Calculations are reported of the differential cross section of the laser-assisted X-ray photoeffect from K shells showing that drastic changes occur in the shape of the ejected-electron angular distribution when laser photons are exchanged during the ionisation. This process appears well suited to the study of laser effects and multiphoton exchanges in laser-assisted atomic collisions.
