This article aims to contribute to the knowledge of Medieval Hispanic Phraseology by means of the stylistic analysis of the phraseological units, which are represented in the Crónica troyana (Juan de Burgos, 1490). To achieve this aim, this study is based on the methodological program proposed by Echenique Elizondo (2003), in order to tackle the historical and stylistic analysis of these units. AbstractThis article aims to offer some methodological reflections in relation to the historical study of phraseology in Juan Fernández de Heredia’s work. Specifically, we intend to reflect on the incidence of lexicalization processes within the framework of the edition project of the Grant Crónica de Espanya by means of the study of the phraseological unit por mal querencia de / por malquerencia de. In this paper, it is claimed that authors adjust their use of phraseology in children’s books to the still limited phraseological competence of children. Authors may apply procedures such as phraseme accumulation, phraseme paraphrasing, or phraseme modification in order to enhance the comprehensibility of phrasemes for children. With increasing phraseological competence of adolescents, the use of phraseology in books for adolescents changes. Collocation Dictionaries: A Comparative Analysis

The importance of phraseological information in lexicographic resources is experiencing an exponential growth. This is evident in the publication in recent years of a wide variety of combinatorial or collocation dictionaries. This paper describes and compares the main monolingual collocation dictionaries for English and Spanish in regards to the following: (i) types of collocation encoded; (ii) kinds of collocational information offered; (iii) place for collocations in the micro or macrostructure of the dictionary. The objective of this analysis is to study the usefulness of these resources for translators.

Phrase Frames as an Exploratory Tool for Studying English-to-Polish Translation Patterns: A Descriptive Corpus-Based Study

Designed as a proof-of-concept, this descriptive corpus-based study focuses on the concept of phrase frame, defined as a contiguous sequence of n words identical except for one (Fletcher 2002). Although phrase frames were already used as a means of exploring pattern variability across and within different text types or registers written in English, they have been rarely, if ever, employed so far as a unit of analysis in descriptive research on translation.
