Virtuālie asistenti procesu automatizācijā

2019

Nutrigenomics and public health

2020

Abstract Nutrigenomics (the study of the bidirectional interactions between genes and diet) is rapidly developing new bodies of knowledge that will change future research in human nutrition and public health. In fact, this new research topic is becoming essential in order to design and investigate the best dietary recommendations with the aim of preventing several diseases. In this regard, it is now recognized that dietary components can affect the phenotype by regulating gene expression. Although methylation is the widest modification mediated by diet components, recent literature has pointed out several other types of epigenetic modifications, such as regulations by noncoding RNAs and his…

Microtomographic reconstruction of mandibular defects treated with xenografts and collagen-based membranes:a pre-clinical minipig model

2021

Background The goal of this study was to evaluate hard tissue response following guided bone regeneration using commercially available bovine bone grafts and collagen membranes; bilayer collagen membrane and porcine pericardium-based membrane, by means of a non-destructive three-dimensional (3D) computerized volumetric analysis following microtomography reconstruction. Material and Methods Bone regenerative properties of various bovine bone graft materials were evaluated in the Göttingen minipig model. Two standardized intraosseous defects (15mm x 8mm x 8mm) were created bilaterally of the mandible of eighteen animals (n=72 defects). Groups were nested within the same subject and randomly d…

Characterization of the Purified Fourth Component of Guinea Pig Complement* *Supported by Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (grant Kl 124/9).

1970

Publisher Summary A strain of rabbits deficient in complement was discovered in Freiburg, Germany in 1961. A second, clearly unrelated, strain was reported in Mexico. Both these strains are deficient in C6. A further complement-deficient rabbit was found by chance in Cambridge. This paper presents some data on the colony bred from this animal. C6 was partially purified from rabbit serum by chromatography on DEAE Cellulose and hydroxyapatite. Antibody to rabbit C6 in deficient rabbits was raised by four weekly injections of alum precipitated C6 with Bordetella pertussis as adjuvant into the knee joints, followed by three intravenous injections of the alum precipitated material without B. per…

Querelle épigraphique entre deux savants : l’exemple de la correspondance, publiée dans la Revue archéologique de 1847, entre Antoine-Jean Letronne e…

2020

Although Roman inscriptions have attracted interest since the Renaissance, epigraphy was not acknowledged as a science in its own right, with its own ruleset and methods, until the mid-19th century. Henceforth every newly discovered inscription was duly documented and distributed across an ever-growing and influential network of European scholars, giving birth to an extensive system of scholarly correspondence connecting every individual researcher with the community, from the provincial antiquarian who, as a precursor to « field archaeology », would discover the inscriptions, to the Parisian scholar who would gather and examine every inscription sent his way. One such epistolary intercours…

Novel insights into cancer stem cells targeting: CAR-T therapy and epigenetic drugs as new pillars in cancer treatment

2023

Cancer stem cells (CSCs) represent the most aggressive subpopulation present in the tumor bulk retaining invasive capabilities, metastatic potential and high expression levels of drug efflux pumps responsible for therapy resistance. Cancer is still an incurable disease due to the inefficacy of standard regimens that spare this subpopulation. Selective targeting of CSCs is still an unmet need in cancer research field. Aberrant epigenetic reprogramming promotes the initiation and maintenance of CSCs, which are able to escape the immune system defense. Promising therapeutic approaches able to induce the selective inhibition of this stem-like small subset include immunotherapy alone or in combi…

Decreasing dietary linoleic acid promotes long chain omega-3 fatty acid incorporation into rat retina and modifies gene expression

2011

International audience; Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) may be partially prevented by dietary habits privileging the consumption of ω3 long chain polyunsaturated fatty acids (ω3s) while lowering linoleic acid (LA) intake. The present study aimed to document whether following these epidemiological guidelines would enrich the neurosensory retina and RPE with ω3s and modulate gene expression in the neurosensory retina. Rat progenitors and pups were fed with diets containing low or high LA, and low or high ω3s. After scotopic single flash and 8-Hz-Flicker electroretinography, rat pups were euthanized at adulthood. The fatty acid profile of the neurosensory retina, RPE, liver, adipose tis…
