Guianese culture and traditional music, here evoked, are various. It is more a transcultural process that, along centuries, gave an original result born in the Americas, in Guiana in this case. The musical performance, that I study here, is the echo of social and cultural space of this reformulation of thought, life, and conception of the world. In Placenten verschiedener Altersstufen wurde nach der Methode vonAnson die Kathepsinaktivitat bestimmt. Dabei zeigte sich, das gegenuber der Fruhgraviditat die Aktivitat am Ende der Schwangerschaft deutlich erniedrigt ist. Bemerkenswert ist die Gruppe der echten Schwangerschaftsubertragungen, die die niedrigsten Werte aufwiesen. Die Differenzen zwischen den einzelnen Gruppen sind statistisch signifikant. Die Bedeutung der Fermentaktivitat fur das Wachstum wird diskutiert.
Design of an FBG based-on sensor device for large displacement deformation

This article deals with the modeling of a strain-displacement transducer conceived for extending the FBG measurement range. The intrinsic fragility of the optical fiber limits their application to cases characterized by relatively small deformations. To extend the employ to the large displacement field (i.e. morphing applications), a dedicated device was conceived, constituted by a circular ring connected to the structure and laterally integrated with a FBG sensor. Abstract Aim We evaluated the effect of the latest GLP-1 RA semaglutide on tongue fat storage in obese women. Design. We conducted a randomized single-blind, pilot study. Methods Twenty-five obese women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) (33.7 ± 5.3 years, body mass index (BMI) 36.1 ± 3.9 kg/m2, mean ± SD) were randomized to semaglutide 1.0 mg or placebo for 16 weeks. We quantified tongue volume and its fat tissue and fat proportion by magnetic resonance imaging. The aim of this study was to determine the difference in displacement of a newly designed intramedullary olecranon fracture fixation device compared with multifilament tension band wiring after 4 cycles and 300 cycles of dynamic continuous loading.In eight pairs of fresh-frozen cadaver ulnae, oblique olecranon fractures were created and stabilized using either newly designed intramedullary olecranon nail or multifilament tension band wiring. Asymmetric boudins are potential but problematic shear sense indicators. They can be divided into two groups, with slip on the inter-boudin surface that is either synthetic (S-slip) or antithetic (A-slip) with respect to bulk shear sense. Since both groups have mirror-image symmetry, independent geometric criteria are needed to distinguish them if they are to be used as shear sense indicators. Investigation of asymmetric boudins in trains parallel to the main foliation from the Kaoko Belt in Namibia and elsewhere indicate that the geometry of both groups is in most cases different. Abstract Objective To evaluate the effects of surgery and a postoperative progressive home exercise program on gait parameters among individuals operated with total knee arthroplasty. For fixed size sampling designs with high entropy it is well known that the variance of the Horvitz-Thompson estimator can be approximated by the H\'ajek formula. The interest of this asymptotic variance approximation is that it only involves the first order inclusion probabilities of the statistical units. We extend this variance formula when the variable under study is functional and we prove, under general conditions on the regularity of the individual trajectories and the sampling design, that we can get a uniformly convergent estimator of the variance function of the Horvitz-Thompson estimator of the mean function. Background The X-ACT study aims to examine the effect of omalizumab treatment on quality of life (QoL) in chronic spontaneous urticaria (CSU) patients with angioedema refractory to high doses of H1-antihistamines. Methods In X-ACT, a phase III, double-blind, placebo-controlled study, CSU patients (18–75 years) with ≥4 angioedema episodes during the 6 months before inclusion were randomized (1:1) to receive omalizumab 300 mg or placebo every 4 weeks for 28 weeks.
