Effect of Microplastics in Hydrothermal Liquefaction (HTL) of Real Municipal Sludge (RMS)

The work herein was focused to study the effect of the microplastics on the yield and quality of biocrude (BC) produced by hydrothermal liquefaction (HTL) of real municipal sludge (RMS). HTL experiments with RMS containing 3 % w/w microplastics were conducted at 325 °C and 30 min both in the absence and in the presence of CoMo/Al2O3, NiMo/Al2O3 and activated carbon felt (ACF) as heterogeneous catalysts. A white wax was isolated from BC with a yield of 5, 8 and 6 % w/w daf when CoMo/Al2O3, NiMo/Al2O3 and ACF were used respectively. AIM: The aim of this work is to evaluate the metabolic impact of Partial Volume Correction (PVC) on the measurement of the Standard Uptake Value (SUV) from [18F]FDG PET-CT oncological studies for treatment monitoring purpose. METHODS: Twenty-nine breast cancer patients with bone lesions (42 lesions in total) underwent [18F]FDG PET-CT studies after surgical resection of breast cancer primitives, and before (PET-I) and after (PET-II) chemotherapy and hormone treatment. The question of reality implies the necessity of declaring a principle of reality. Thus, it means the necessity of declaring a principle of existence. Through the adoption of a wide criterion like that of intentional existence following up on Quine’s accounts, the question is reformulated as a question concerning not what but how being is. Using Bauman’s concept of liquidity in an ontological manner and discussing Malabou’s notion of plasticity, the form as essence is seen in its possibility of being receptive and fluid and not ontologically static or stiff.
