Vinylic polymerization of norbornene by Pd(II)-catalysis in the presence of ethylene

Pd(II) catalysts with nitrilo ligands and BF4− counter ions give the best results in vinylic polymerization of norbornene. Absolute molecular weight determination of polynorbornene (PN) by means of light scattering and the three-dimensional shape of PN were also investigated. By correlation of molecular weights Mw with intrinsic viscosity (Staudinger-index) [η], yield a close to 0.5 exponent for the Mark-Houwink equation with solvents chlorobenzene and cyclohexane at 25°C expected for polymer molecules with confined conformation. Synthesis of low density poly(ethylene) using nickel iminophosphonamide complexes

Ethylene polymerization using a catalyst derived from the reaction of the phosphorane (Me3Si)2NP(NSiMe3)2 (1) with either Ni(COD)2 or bis(π-allyl)Ni complexes affords branched poly(ethylene) (PE) of variable MW (103−106) depending on conditions. The branched PE of high MW is semicrystalline with Tm < 100 °C. High field 13C NMR spectra reveal the presence of methyl branches (ca. 10−15 per 1000 C atoms), branches longer than six C atoms (15−20 per 1000 C atoms) and trace levels of ethyl, propyl, n-butyl, and sec-butyl branches (total <2 per 1000 C atoms). Tailoring the anionic function and the side chains of comb-like superplasticizers to improve their adsorption

Nowadays admixtures and especially superplasticizers are unavoidable components of the concrete formulation. The high fluidizing efficiency of the comb-like superplasticizers must not overshadow their high costs. Correlation between processability and properties of a high density polyethylene by a rheological approach

The thermal-oxidative and thermal-mechanical stability of high density polyethylene (chromium based catalyst technology) was examined at many different temperatures using a rheological approach. Characterization of a fiber-reinforced new fully aromatic liquid crystalline polymer

A new rigid liquid crystalline polymer that demonstrates good mechanical and thermomechanical properties and acceptable processing temperature has been recently synthesized and characterized. Rheological study of gel phenomena during epoxide network formation in the presence of sepiolite

The dynamic behaviour during the crosslinking of an epoxy polymer near the gel point was monitored using rheological multiple frequency experiments. The influence of a needle-shaped inorganic nanofiller, sepiolite, either non-modified or organically surface modified during the cure process in the presence of an aliphatic and an aromatic hardener was investigated. The validity of various criteria for determining the gel point was examined for the crosslinking of these filled thermosets. Behaviour of modified and unmodified polybutadienes in the semidilute regime

Abstract The association behaviour of polybutadiene modified with 4-phenyl-l,2,4-triazoline-3,5-dione was studied in semidilute solution through static (SLS) and dynamic light scattering (DLS). The results were compared with the unmodified polybutadiene, whose behavior in semidilute solution was also studied as function of the molecular weight. At higher concentrations a small-angle excess scattering in SLS and a slow mode motion in DLS were observed both for modified and unmodified polybutadienes suggesting the presence of large clusters. (1-Adamantyl)methyl glycidyl ether (AdaGE) is introduced as a versatile monomer for oxyanionic polymerization, enabling controlled incorporation of adamantyl moieties in aliphatic polyethers. Via copolymerization with ethoxyethyl glycidyl ether (EEGE) and subsequent cleavage of the acetal protection groups of EEGE, hydrophilic linear polyglycerols with an adjustable amount of pendant adamantyl moieties are obtained.
