Determination of Platinum-Group Elements (PGE) from catalytic converters in soil by means of docimasy and INAA.
1996
The nickelsulfide fire assay (docimasy) for the enrichment of platinum-group elements (PGEs) has been modified for the use with small samples and combined with instrumental neutron-activation analysis (INAA). This procedure has been applied to the determination of PGEs exhausted from catalytic converters and deposited in soil near the Wiesbadener Kreuz (highway A3, Frankfurt-Koln). Our results show a considerable enhancement of the Pt (up to 330 ng/g), Pd (6.6 ng/g) and Rh (7.5 ng/g) contents close to the highway.
Intrinsic Metal Size Effect on Adsorption of Organic Molecules on Platinum
2008
Di-σ adsorbed ethene, bridge(30) adsorbed benzene (with four di-σ-type and two π-type interactions), and η1 and η2 adsorbed acetone on nanosized platinum clusters consisting of 19 to 38 Pt atoms were studied theoretically by density functional theory (DFT) calculations with general gradient approximation (GGA) utilizing plane wave and local basis sets. The cluster results were compared to plane wave calculations employed with periodic boundary conditions. It was found that the geometries obtained with different methods are very similar but the adsorption energy depends prominently on the cluster size. Adsorption was strongest on the 22- and 26-atom clusters and weakest on the 35- and 38-ato…

1990
Abstract Electron impact, fast atom bombardment and laser induced vaporization techniques are compared in the mass spectrometric behaviour of some palladium(II) and platinum(II) complexes with C-bonded heterocyclic ligands of the type trans -[MCl(R N )(PPh 3 ) 2 ] [M = Pd, R N = 2-pyridyl, 1 ; 2-pyrazyl, 2; 2-pyrimidyl, 3; M = Pt, R N = 2-pyridyl, 4 ].
Electrosynthesis of Poly(alanine)-Like Peptides in Concentrated Alanine Based Electrolytes, Characterization Coupled to DFT Study and Application to …
2014
The anodic oxidation of concentrated l-alanine on smooth electrodes such as platinum and glassy carbon electrodes was studied. Contrary to the previous studies performed up to now with diluted l-alanine, the electrochemical process generated here results in a completely different situation. The oxidation on smooth platinum was carried out by electrochemical quartz crystal microbalance (EQCM) coupled to cyclic voltammetry technique. The effects of concentration, scan rate, and pH (zwitterion at pH = 6 and alkaline media at pH = 13) on potential values were examined. Glassy carbon and smooth gold electrodes showed the same behavior as on smooth platinum electrode. Spectroscopic analysis such …

Precipitation and calcination synthesis methods forming nano-sized platinum catalytic particles for methanol and hydrogen oxidation
2013
Under varying experimental conditions of calcination and precipitation reactions, different particle sizes and levels of platinum on carbon supported (Pt/C) catalysts were obtained. Rapid precipitation following a chemical reaction ensured formation of nano-sized catalytic particles using super-saturated concentrations under controlled conditions was a significant contribution in understanding the synthesis process and how it relates to an increased number of catalytic reaction sites ultimately providing superior electrochemical (EC) activity. These conditions influenced nucleation and growth rates of the catalytic particles. The super-saturation concentrations of the reactants in the react…
An experimental and theoretical study of the isomerization of mononuclear bis(arylselenolato)bis(triphenylphosphine)platinum complexes [Pt(SeR)2(PPh3…
2003
Abstract Mononuclear bis(thienylselenolato)bis(triphenylphosphine)platinum [Pt(SeTh)2(PPh3)2] (Th=2-thienyl, C4H3S) has been prepared by the treatment of cis-[PtCl2(PPh3)2] with NaSeTh. The 31P-NMR spectroscopic information indicates that cis-[Pt(SeTh)2(PPh3)2] is initially formed in the reaction. Upon prolonged standing in solution it isomerizes to trans-[Pt(SeTh)2(PPh3)2]. The reaction of cis-[PtCl2(PPh3)2] with LiSeFu (Fu=2-furyl, C4H3O) affords immediately a mixture of cis- and trans-isomers of [Pt(SeFu)2(PPh3)2] with the relative amount of the trans-isomer increasing with time. The recrystallization of the two reaction mixtures yielded cis,anti- and trans,syn-isomers of [Pt(SeTh)2(PPh3…
Optical, Electrochemical, and Catalytic Properties of the Unsaturated Host Pd3(dppm)3(CO)2+and Pd4(dppm)4(H)2+2Clusters: An Overview
2004
This paper presents an overview of the optical, photophysical, and photochemical properties including UV-visible and luminescence spectra in solution at 298 and 77 K, along with electrochemical, and catalytic behavior under reduction conditions (for both thermally and electrochemically assisted systems) of the tri- and tetranuclear Pd3(dppm)3(CO)2+ and Pd4(dppm)4(H)2+ 2 clusters (dppm=bis(diphenylphosphino)methane). This review is also complemented with relevant information about their syntheses, molecular and electronic structures supported from computer modeling, EHMO and DFT calculations, and their host-guest behavior with anions and neutral molecules, in relation with their observed rea…

Virsrakst: Onkoloģiskās ķīmijterapijas izraisītas neiroloģiskās blakusparādības, to atkarība no pacienta dzīvildzes prognostiskajiem rādītājiem, ĶMI, dzimuma un ķīmijterapijas veida, iespēja blaknes mazināt. Neiroloģiskās blaknes bieži paliek neievērotas, atšķirībā no citām vieglāk pamanāmām. Agrīna iejaukšanās varētu mazināt neiroloģiskās blaknes, tas palīdzētu veikt pilnvērtīgu ķīmijterapijas kursu un labāk ārstēt vēzi. Mērķis: Mērķis ir noskaidrot, vai vēža pacienta …
Synthesis, solution behaviour and potential anticancer activity of new trinuclear organometallic palladium(II) complex of S-1-phenylethyl dithiooxami…
2019
Abstract Addition of H2R2DTO (R = {S}-1-phenylethyl and DTO = dithiooxamide) to the bis(benzonitrile)palladium(II) chloride complex in chloroform afforded the mononuclear Pd(DTO)2·2HCl complex. The complex treated with NaHCO3 for removing of HCl and then reacted with [Pd(ƞ3-allyl)(µ-Cl)]2 for preparation of a new trimetallic organopalladium(II) complex. The molecular structure of the trimetallic complex was determined by X-ray diffraction indicating a planar geometry around each palladium center. Also, variable temperature spectroscopy for this complex was performed in CDCl3 in the range 298–390 K, and simulations of the dynamic spectra were performed using the gNMR program. A comparison be…
