Nuove regole di applicazione del diritto UE in sede nazionale?

Two important judgments of the Consiglio di Stato (Italy) allow revisiting general institutions relating to the primacy of EU law and the instruments that guarantee its application in national law. Among others are the direct effect of the directives, the need for a preliminary ruling, and the so-called double preliminary ruling. Finally, the essay highlights some critical issues regarding the limits of the non-application of the law, the overcoming of the res judicata, and the temporary suspension of the ousting effect of a rule of EU law by national courts.

We propose a rapid, one-pot method to generate photoluminescent (PL) mesoporous silicon nanoparticles (PSiNPs). Typically, mesoporous silicon (meso-PSi) films, obtained by electrochemical etching of monocrystalline silicon substrates, do not display strong PL because the silicon nanocrystals (nc-Si) in the skeleton are generally too large to display quantum confinement effects. Here we describe an improved approach to form photoluminescent PSiNPs from meso-PSi by partial oxidation in aqueous sodium borate (borax) solutions. The reaction product of nitric oxide and superoxide, peroxynitrite, is a potent biological oxidant. The most important oxidative protein modifications described for peroxynitrite are cysteine-thiol oxidation and tyrosine nitration. We have previously demonstrated that intrinsic heme-thiolate (P450)-dependent enzymatic catalysis increases the nitration of tyrosine 430 in prostacyclin synthase and results in loss of activity which contributes to endothelial dysfunction. Based on an ethnographic approach, this paper explores how members of a new age spiritual movement known as ?Llave Mariana? (LLM) build and experience their bodies. At the same time, it develops a thick description of their ritual practices and later it analyzes, delving fundamentally into the phenomenological perspective, how these members shape and transform their forms of self-perception, experience, and representation of others and the environment. Considering that it is difficult, if not impossible, for an analysis of Chopin?s music to unmask some aspects of his private life (such as an alleged sexual and affective attraction for individuals of his own sex), we can however argue that, throughout the 19th century, a connection was established between his work and a ?feminine universe.? That connection might have had implications in the way in which the feminized image of its author was constructed. The analysis of certain aesthetic and stylistic traits of Chopin?s music can help understand the causes of that perception.

Can we automate expert-based journal rankings? Analysis of the Finnish publication indicator

The publication indicator of the Finnish research funding system is based on a manual ranking of scholarly publication channels. These ranks, which represent the evaluated quality of the channels, are continuously kept up to date and thoroughly reevaluated every four years by groups of nominated scholars belonging to different disciplinary panels. This expert-based decision-making process is informed by available citation-based metrics and other relevant metadata characterizing the publication channels.
