Multi-resolution anisotropy studies of ultrahigh-energy cosmic rays detected at the Pierre Auger Observatory

We report a multi-resolution search for anisotropies in the arrival directions of cosmic rays detected at the Pierre Auger Observatory with local zenith angles up to $80^\circ$ and energies in excess of 4 EeV ($4 \times 10^{18}$ eV). This search is conducted by measuring the angular power spectrum and performing a needlet wavelet analysis in two independent energy ranges. This article describes the result of ten or so fairly limited preventive archaeology operations (surveillance of works, diagnostics not followed up with excavations) carried out over the last ten years that have nonetheless finalised knowledge of several deposits from Late Antiquity in Autun located intra muros but also outside the walls. The works have enabled us to renew our knowledge of the reduced enclosure and of three Late Antiquity necropolises, to discover the remains of a lime kiln from the end of the 4th century at the centre of a public zone (perhaps the forum), and lastly to point up the difficulties of interpretation of an occupation of two zones from the end of the 4th century…

Die Nekropole von Lailly Au-delà de l’Eau (Departement Yonne) war 1927 entdeckt worden und wurde1934, 1936 und 1937 und zum letzten Mal 2012 teilweise ausgegraben. Die Untersuchung der in den Depots der Museen von Senswiederentdeckten Grabbeigaben und die systematische Aufarbeitung der Grabungsarchive der Société archéologique de Sens habenes ermöglicht, einen Teil der geschlossenen Fundkontexte zu rekonstruieren und eine Belegungschronologie dieser kleinen Nekropolevorzuschlagen, deren großes wissenschaftliches Potenzial noch in situ erforscht werden muss. Die Studie der Grabsitten hat es zudemerlaubt, die Funde in den regionalen und überregionalen soziokulturellen Kontext zu einzuordnen
Musica nel "Poliorama Pittoresco"

Il saggio rintraccia ed analizza i contributi a carattere musicale comparsi nella rivista napoletana "Poliorama pittoresco", uscita dal 1836 al 1860. Accanto a profili biografici e ad articoli encomiastici (specialmente su Rossini), la rivista pubblica interessanti articoli dedicati alla musica popolare. In particolare nel saggio vengono analizzati due contributi sui Viggianesi, musicisti ambulanti giunti dalla Basilicata in tutta Europa ed anche in America, e un importante testo di Giuseppe Regaldi del 1847 dedicato alla canzone napoletana, ricco di preziose informazioni di prima mano (tale testo è riportato per intero in appendice).

Reactivity of asymmetric benzo-condensed diazines with nitrilimine dipoles in the 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition reactions

The reactivity of asymmetric benzo-condensed diazines in the 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition reactions with nitrilimines was investigated. The results demonstrated that, at variance with the symmetric quinoxaline, a certain grade of diastereoselectivity emerged. Moreover in the case of the 5-methylquinoxaline and quinazoline a mono-cycloadduct was obtained.
Johnson-Nyquist Noise Effects in Neutron Electric-Dipole-Moment Experiments

Magnetic Johnson-Nyquist noise (JNN) originating from metal electrodes, used to create a static electric field in neutron electric-dipole-moment (nEDM) experiments, may limit the sensitivity of measurements. We present here the first dedicated study on JNN applied to a large-scale long-measurement-time experiment with the implementation of a co-magnetometry. In this study, we derive surface- and volume-averaged root-mean-square normal noise amplitudes at a certain frequency bandwidth for a cylindrical geometry.
