For centuries alcohol had constituted a key component of soldiers’ diet. As early as in ancient times, health benefits of wine and its impact on human body were appreciated, foremostly its germicidal properties. Probably alcohol was popular among soldier of the first Piasts or knight of the time of regional disintegration, time of king Władysław 1 the Elbow-high, Casimir the Great or kings of the Jagiellonian dynasty. It may be presumed that the former only drank beer, however, knights in XIV-XV treated it as a common everyday beverage, relishing wine for special occassions and during feasts. The purpose of this study is to present the general principles and general issues of liquidation of the bankruptcy estate under Polish law. It should be stressed that liquidation of the bankruptcy estate is intended to satisfy the creditors of the insolvent debtor. Therefore, the manner of liquidation of the bankruptcy estate has an obvious impact on the final bankruptcy dividend for the creditors. The aim of the article is to present differences between the understanding of the concept of beauty in the Eastern and Western cultures. The author analyses creativity of the Polish poets who translated selected Chinese texts. She analyses also poetry that undertakes themes and motifs characteristic for Chinese poetry and connected with landscape, motifs of moon and grass. Representation of the elements of nature in the creativity of the Chinese classics is compared with works of Tadeusz Różewicz, Konstanty Ildefons Gałczyński, Julian Tuwim and Halina Poświatowska. Beauty, however differently defined in various cultures, often assumes similar forms.

This paper is an attempt to present the numerous analogies in Władysław Stanisław Reymont‘s and Maxim Gorky‘s outlook on life. It seems that the affinity is partially determined by the coincident biographies of both writers. In literary studies thematic parallels in the writers‘ prose works are frequently mentioned. The paper constitutes a continuation thereof, presenting the problems from a biographical perspective. The paper dedicated to the Polish-Russian literary relations at the turn of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries belongs to the area of comparative studies.
