Carré Plantagenêt, Musée d'Archéologie du Mans
2010
There are two main ways to…
Pervaporation membrane reactors
2013
Pervaporation is a peculiar membrane separation process which is now considered for the integration with some types of reactions in new promising and interesting applications. Indeed, pervaporation membrane reactors are suitable to some specific utilizations also in sustainable chemistry, which is an area currently characterized by a growing interest. The fundamentals of this type of membrane reactors are presented and the advantages and the difficulties in many applications are discussed and reviewed with particular attention to the opportunities for future developments.
CAUSE RELATED MARKETING – TRUE HEART-FELT CORPORATE BENEVOLENCE?
2011
Nowadays, globally, consumers’ expectations have reached a new high, as they expect companies to act responsibly in changing the world. More than often these expectations are not met solely out of the kindness and generosity of corporations, but they are mixed in with corporate social responsibility programs and cause-related marketing. Consumers want more of the products and services they buy to support worthy social and environmental issues.
Double In Utero Electroporation to Target Temporally and Spatially Separated Cell Populations.
2020
In utero electroporation is an in vivo DNA transfer technique extensively used to study the molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying mammalian corticogenesis. This procedure takes advantage of the brain ventricles to allow the introduction of DNA of interest and uses a pair of electrodes to direct the entrance of the genetic material into the cells lining the ventricle, the neural stem cells. This method allows researchers to label the desired cells and/or manipulate the expression of genes of interest in those cells. It has multiple applications, including assays targeting neuronal migration, lineage tracing, and axonal pathfinding. An important feature of this method is its temporal a…
Differential expression levels of Sox9 in early neocortical radial glial cells regulate the decision between stem cell maintenance and differentiation
2021
ABSTRACTRadial glial progenitor cells (RGCs) in the dorsal forebrain directly or indirectly produce excitatory projection neurons and macroglia of the neocortex. Recent evidence shows that the pool of RGCs is more heterogeneous than originally thought and that progenitor subpopulations can generate particular neuronal cell types. Using single cell RNA sequencing, we have studied gene expression patterns of two subtypes of RGCs that differ in their neurogenic behavior. One progenitor type rapidly produces postmitotic neurons, whereas the second progenitor remains relatively quiescence before generating neurons. We have identified candidate genes that are differentially expressed between thes…
Two Enhancers Control Transcription of Drosophila muscleblind in the Embryonic Somatic Musculature and in the Central Nervous System
2014
The phylogenetically conserved family of Muscleblind proteins are RNA-binding factors involved in a variety of gene expression processes including alternative splicing regulation, RNA stability and subcellular localization, and miRNA biogenesis, which typically contribute to cell-type specific differentiation. In humans, sequestration of Muscleblind-like proteins MBNL1 and MBNL2 has been implicated in degenerative disorders, particularly expansion diseases such as myotonic dystrophy type 1 and 2. Drosophila muscleblind was previously shown to be expressed in embryonic somatic and visceral muscle subtypes, and in the central nervous system, and to depend on Mef2 for transcriptional activatio…
Retuning the Nordic Welfare Municipality: Central Regulation of Social Care under Change in Finland
2011
Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to analyse the changes that have taken place in the central regulation of social care in Finland since the 1970s. The changes in vertical central‐local relations are discussed in the context of economic and welfare state development.Design/methodology/approach – The paper is a case study, applying the concept of “the Nordic welfare municipality” to the case of Finland. With this concept, the author refers to the inherently contradictory character of the Nordic model of welfare governance: to a system that emphasises local self‐government but that, at the same time, perceives regional harmonisation as imperative.Findings – After strong central control d…

The Community Structure of the Global Corporate Network
2013
We investigate the community structure of the global ownership network of transnational corporations. We find a pronounced organization in communities that cannot be explained by randomness. Despite the global character of this network, communities reflect first of all the geographical location of firms, while the industrial sector plays only a marginal role. We also analyze the network in which the nodes are the communities and the links are obtained by aggregating the links among firms belonging to pairs of communities. We analyze the network centrality of the top 50 communities and we provide the first quantitative assessment of the financial sector role in connecting the global economy.
Predicting mass fluxes in the pervaporation process using Maxwell-Stefan diffusion coefficients
2018
Abstract In the past decades, it has been proven that pervaporation is an effective and energy-efficient membrane process for the separation of liquids that are difficult to separate in classical processes. The demand for new process applications has increased the need for mass transfer simulation methods, considering the interactions between the system components and the influence of process parameters on the permeation fluxes and at the same time requiring as few experiments as possible. The aim of the study was to find out whether the calculation of mass fluxes of multicomponent fluids based on the system of generalized Maxwell-Stefan equations (GMSE), using Maxwell-Stefan (M-S) diffusio…
