About invasive cervical cancer: a French population based study between 1998 and 2010

2015

Abstract Objectives The new French cancer plan provides the implementation of organized screening. To make an assessment of the situation, we aim to describe clinical, tumor and survival characteristics of patients with invasive cervical cancer. Study design Data on women suffering from invasive cervical cancer and diagnosed from 1998 to 2010 were provided by the Cote d’Or breast cancer registry. Survival was described using the Kaplan–Meier method and prognostic factors of survival were estimated in a Cox proportional hazard model. Results On the whole, 1019 cancers have been collected including 311 (30.5%) invasive ones. The peak incidence was between 40 and 49 years, with an average age …

Discontinuation of teriflunomide and dimethyl fumarate in a large Italian multicentre population: a 24-month real-world experience

2019

Teriflunomide (TRF) and Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) are licensed drugs for relapsing-remitting Multiple Sclerosis (RRMS). We aimed to compare the rate and the time to discontinuation among persons with RRMS (pwRRMS), newly treated with TRF and DMF. A retrospective study on prospectively collected data was performed in nine tertiary MS centers, in Italy. The 24-month discontinuation rate in the two cohorts was the primary study outcome. We also assessed the time to discontinuation and reasons of therapy withdrawn. Discontinuation of TRF and DMF was defined as a gap of treatment ≥ 60 days. A cohort of 903 pwRRMS (316 on TRF and 587 on DMF) was analyzed. During 24 months of follow-up, pwRRMS on TR…

Cardiovascular events among reproductive and menopausal age women with polycystic ovary syndrome: a systematic review and meta-analysis

2019

This study aimed to evaluate the prevalence (P)/hazard ratio (HR) of cardiovascular (CV) events among reproductive age and menopausal age women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) in comparison with healthy controls. PubMed, Scopus, ScienceDirect, Web of science, and Google scholar were searched for retrieving observational studies published up to April 2018 investigating CV events in patients with PCOS. The primary outcomes were a composite outcome of CV events [including coronary arterial disease (CAD), cardiovascular disease (CVD), myocardial infarction (MI), angina, heart failure, and ischemic heart disease] and mortality due to CV events; secondary outcomes were specific CVD events, …

Long-term exposure to transportation noise and risk for atrial fibrillation: A Danish nationwide cohort study.

2022

Background: Epidemiological studies have linked transportation noise and cardiovascular diseases, however, atrial fibrillation (AF) has received limited attention. We aimed to investigate the association between transportation noise and AF risk. Methods: Over the period 1990–2017 we estimated road and railway noise (L den) at the most and least exposed façades for all residential addresses across Denmark. We estimated time-weighted mean noise exposure for 3.6 million individuals age ≥35 years. Of these, 269,756 incident cases of AF were identified with a mean follow-up of 13.0 years. Analyses were conducted using Cox proportional hazards models with adjustment for individual and area-level …

Multicomponent Physical Exercise Training in Multimorbid and Palliative Oldest Adults

2021

Exercise counteracts aging and pathology symptoms, but there is still scarce research on exercise programs for multimorbid and/or palliative old patients (MPO-Ps). In order to analyze whether the multicomponent physical–cognitive training is beneficial for this population, 17 MPO-Ps (81.59 ± 5.63 years) completed a &gt

Cardiorespiratory fitness and all-cause mortality in adults diagnosed with cancer systematic review and meta-analysis.

2021

INTRODUCTION The inverse association between cardiorespiratory fitness and all-cause mortality in apparently healthy populations has been previously reported; however, the existence of this association among adults diagnosed with cancer is unclear. AIM To determine the association between cardiorespiratory fitness and all-cause mortality in adults diagnosed with cancer. METHODS Medline, Embase, and SPORTDiscus databases were searched. Eligible prospective cohort studies that examined the association of cardiorespiratory fitness with all-cause mortality in adults diagnosed with cancer were included. Hazard ratios (HRs) with associated 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were extracted from studie…

Effects of functional resistance training on fitness and quality of life in females with chronic nonspecific low-back pain.

2018

BACKGROUND: Exercise is important as adjuvant in the chronic low back pain (CLBP) treatment. Functional training could involve benefits for low back pain (LBP) patients. OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the effects of a 12-week period of functional resistance training on health-related quality of life (HRQOL), disability, body pain, and physical fitness in CLBP females. METHODS: Nineteen females CLBP were recruited according to Paris Task Force on Back Pain criteria. Participants were randomly assigned to an exercise group (EG); and a control group (CG). Subjects were tested at baseline and at week 12 after 24 sessions, 2 days per week. Body pain was assessed using visual analog scale (VAS), disabili…

Clinical effectiveness of different natalizumab interval dosing schedules in a large Italian population of patients with multiple sclerosis

2020

IntroductionNatalizumab (NTZ) is one of the most effective treatment options for multiple sclerosis (MS) treatment. Our study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of NTZ when administered according to the extended dosing strategy compared with standard 4-weekly administration in a large Italian MS population.Materials and methodsThis retrospective multicentre study included patients with relapsing-remitting MS (RR-MS) who received NTZ administrations between the 1 June 2012 and the 15 May 2018 and were followed by the ‘Italian MS Register’. All patients with MS were stratified into two groups based on NTZ administration schedule: standard interval dosing (SID) patients who received infusions…

Comorbidity-dependent adherence to guidelines and survival in breast cancer-Is there a role for guideline adherence in comorbid breast cancer patient…

2016

In the treatment of breast cancer, decisions on adjuvant treatment reflect individual patient characteristics like age and comorbidity. This study assessed the association between adherence to guidelines for adjuvant treatment and survival while taking into account age at diagnosis and comorbidities. We collected the Charlson comorbidity index at baseline for 2179 women treated for primary breast cancer from 1992 to 2008 who participated in a German retrospective multicenter cohort study. We assessed subsequent adjuvant therapy guideline adherence and survival in relation to baseline comorbidities. Guidelines for adjuvant chemotherapy and radiotherapy were more often violated in patients wi…

Les rapports aux savoirs du sachant : Le savoir mis en circulation par l’enseignant-tuteur EPS dans l’entretien-conseil : une étude de cas en didacti…

2021

Our work consists in making an inventory of the transmissions that take place between the P.E. tutor and his trainee during the counselling interview. This official process concludes the day of the trainee's visit to the situation and brings professional knowledge into play. In the intervention professions, each actor acts in a singular way with the public he is responsible for. This activity is nourished by the references that have structured his conceptions and the events that have built his professional experience. However, when the tutor suddenly changes his intentions, other singularities must be taken into account. The way in which he positions himself in relation to what is expected …
