Consensus measures for preference rankings with ties: an approach based on position weighted Kemeny distance

2018

Preference data are a particular type of ranking data where some subjects (voters, judges, ...) give their preferences over a set of alternatives (items). It happens, in most of the real cases, that some items receive the same preference by a judge, giving raise to a ranking with ties. The purpose of our paper is to investigate on the consensus between rankings with ties taking into account the importance of swapping elements belonging to the top (or to the bottom) of the ordering (position weights). Combining the structure of the Taux proposed by Emond and Mason and the class of weighted Kemeny-Snell distances, we propose a position weighted rank correlation coefficient to compare rankings…

Ricci Tensors on Some Infinite Dimensional Lie Algebras

1999

Abstract The Ricci tensor has been computed in several infinite dimensional situations. In this work, we shall be interested in the case of the central extension of loop groups and in the asymptotic behaviour of the Ricci tensor on free loop groups as the Riemannian metric varies.

Weak Levi-Civita Connection for the Damped Metric on the Riemannian Path Space and Vanishing of Ricci Tensor in Adapted Differential Geometry

2001

Abstract We shall establish in the context of adapted differential geometry on the path space P m o ( M ) a Weitzenbock formula which generalizes that in (A. B. Cruzeiro and P. Malliavin, J. Funct. Anal . 177 (2000), 219–253), without hypothesis on the Ricci tensor. The renormalized Ricci tensor will be vanished. The connection introduced in (A. B. Cruzeiro and S. Fang, 1997, J. Funct. Anal. 143 , 400–414) will play a central role.

WIDAR: Bistatic WI-fi Detection And Ranging for off-the-shelf devices

2013

The huge spread of wireless networks and the success of location-aware applications require novel indoor po- sitioning mechanisms based on existing technologies such as IEEE 802.11. Taking inspiration from the RADAR, we propose WIDAR: a bistatic WI-fi Detection And Ranging system for off- the-shelf devices. WIDAR implementation is based on the USRP2 platform and is able to locate 802.11 stations while they operate in existing legacy networks. No substitution or repositioning of the Access Points is necessary. WIDAR works passively and does not expect any dedicated action from the target WiFi node. No airtime is wasted and the target cannot even detect that it is being ranged. Such features …

Inverse-voltammetric determination of bismuth in biomaterials with computer assisted peak evaluation. part 3. Bismuth determination in wine, grapes a…

1989

The ultra trace element bismuth is regulary found in wine on an average of about 0.1 ppb. Very low bismuth contents were also determined in soil and different biomaterials. In spite of those very low quantities even speciation experiments show results, so far that about 90% of the bismuth in the grapes is water-soluble, resumably as saccharic acids. For detecting such low quantities a very sensitive method of differential pulse anodic stripping voltammetry was developped. The speciation experiments were carried out by fractional extraction.

The Coming Crisis in the Spanish Wine Industry

1993

It appears quite likely that the worldwide demand for wine has been declining for over a decade now. While a number of reasons for this changing consumer behaviour have been advanced, no one really knows what factors are driving this market downward. This changing demand structure has very serious implications for Spanish wine makers because the fastest decline in demand is at the low priced end of the market. That is exactly the part of the market where Spanish wine makers have their strongest position. Four endgame strategies available to Spanish wine makers are presented and analyzed. Finally, a four step action program is outlined that is intended to give Spanish makers their best chanc…

Study of product repositioning for the Marsala Vergine DOC wine

2017

Italian production of wine is very diversified and Sicily is one of the major regions with regards to quality and quantity of wine. The Marsala is the oldest fortified Sicilian wine, which is very valuable because of its organoleptic qualities and its production process. Marsala wine has been gaining for over a century in the Italian and foreign market, but, after a century of fame, it entered a long phase of decline because of inappropriate producers' decisions and new competitors. The objective of this study is to investigate strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and treats of Marsala Vergine DOC wine for repositioning the product in the market. The focus group and factor analysis were car…

Expressing forest origins in the chemical composition of cooperage oak woods and corresponding wines by using FTICR-MS.

2008

A non-targeted, ultra-high-resolution mass spectrometric, direct analysis of oak-wood extracts from two species (Quercus robur L. and Quercus petraea Liebl.) from three French forests, and of a wine aged in barrels derived therefrom has been performed to identify families of metabolites that could discriminate both the species and the geographical origin of woods. From 12 T ultra-high-resolution Fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance mass spectra of wood extracts, hundreds of mass signals were identified as possible significant biomarkers of the two species, with phenolic and carbohydrate moieties leading the differentiation between Q. robur and Q. petraea, respectively, as corroborated …
