Suprasellar arachnoid cysts represent less than 10% of all intracranial arachnoid cysts. Some of them may be quiescent throughout life, some may become symptomatic as they become enlarged and some disappear spontaneously. Transesophageal echocardiography was performed in 314 patients over a period of 24 months using a 3.5 MHz phased-array system fitted to the distal end of a conventional 12 mm endoscope. In 12 patients (2.6%) transesophageal echocardiography could not be performed because of adverse reaction to the gastroscopic procedure. Side effects were a transient A-V block in one patient and asthmatic attack in another. Mitral valve lesions were found in 99 of 314 patients. The coupling between cardiac and vascular systems in healthy volunteers, elicited by the head-up tilt test is estimated by means of transfer entropy with non-uniform embedding. The method applied to beat-to-beat recordings with heart periods and systolic blood pressure, supports the commonly accepted model, that baroreflex is the key factor in maintaining homeostatic blood distribution after tilting. However the method applied to changes of heart periods and changes of blood pressure, display switches in the driving system, from vascular in the early tilt, to cardiac just after the early tilt and back to vascular in the late tilt.

OBJECTIVE: To study the role of alimentary sensory stimulation on the thermic effect of food. SUBJECTS: Nine male healthy volunteers (age: 20-34y, body mass index (BMI): 17.4-25.3 kg/m 2 ). The Buccal Mucosal Graft For Urethral Reconstruction: A Preliminary Report

Autologous buccal mucosa as a substitute for urethral epithelium was studied in 2 dogs and used in 6 patients with difficult urethral reconstruction problems. The indications for an operation in these patients were failed hypospadias repairs with limited skin in 3, severe structure disease after hypospadias repair in 1, a short urethra in 1 and epispadias in 1. Three urethral fistulas and 1 meatal stenosis occurred in 3 patients. No urethral stricture or diverticulum was noted, and the final outcome was good functionally and cosmetically in all patients. This technique is useful for urethral reconstruction when local skin is not available.
