Paradoxes of postmodern tourists and innovation in tourism marketing
2018
Innovation challenges tourism experiences in a new digitalized era. The new scenario is showing some paradoxical changes that lead to new approaches for tourism production, distribution, and financing. This chapter focuses on innovation in marketing, involving market processes, new changes in tourist behavior and new approaches adopted by companies to face new trends. An emphasis is given to service innovation in tourism, with a special focus on companies, tourist destinations, and the digital environment. Likewise, the chapter examines a series of paradoxes of postmodern tourists and how companies develop new products and services to try to address them.

Postmodernity: clinical and social reflections about new forms of psychopathology
2016
International audience; This article proposes a reflection on the impact that some postmodern features can have on the sense of identity and on mental functioning to propose possible explanations for identity changes and new forms of psychopathology. After revisiting the most recent literature on the theme, this study proposes a clinical consideration for a possible link between new forms of psychopathology and mental suffering. It particularly suggests that the changes observed in affectivity (including increase in dysphoria, irritability, restlessness, boredom, feeling of emptiness) and behaviour (reduction in impulse control ability, in interpersonal skills and reflective function, etc.)…
Hyperreality and Simulacrum: Jean Baudrillard and European Postmodernism
2017
The aim of this paper is to present and explore one of the most fundamental concepts of postmodernity, that is, Jean Baudrillard’s elaboration of the ideas of hyperreality and simulacrum that characterise today’s global consumer culture in which the image of the product is more significant that the product itself. Some attention has also been devoted to European postmodernism, Jean-François Lyotard’s concept of the postmodern articulated in his renown book, The Postmodern Condition, in particular, and the merging of high and popular cultures to form consumer culture of late capitalism.

Newspapers on sustainable development - a postmodern business perspective
2009
The paper departs from an urge to understand the operating environment of business firms in the postmodern society. In identifying sustainable development as a key concept, we make use of daily newspapers to explore which values these attach to reporting on sustainable development. After identifying these norms of society, we argue that firms have taken on a role in people’s lives that former pertained to the religious, collective culture. Business organizations provide a sense of belonging in times when people look for new areas of selfidentification. This role has been accepted opportunistically and strategically in the business world. We thus identify a weak SD paradigm, which seems to i…
